There has been a persistent interruption of this thread over the last week or two by pro- Russian / anti Ukraine ( different sides of same coin) posters. Pretty conscientious and deliberate, it seems. They are entitles to express their opinion in an appropriate forum.
I would like to know about what is occurring in that war, not the political view of those watching it.
It would be nice if this thread could return to that topic.

I apologize. I'm pretty good about ignoring the trolls. I generally figure that a lot of them are actually employees of whoever in Russia has taken over Prigozhin's troll farm.
But it's infuriating when someone you've met and thought was a good guy turns out to be Jane Fonda with a beard. My dad fought Communists in Vietnam; unfortunately, military doctors said that my body was medically unfit to allow me to follow in his footsteps and serve. But that doesn't mean that I'm going to allow someone to come in here insisting on attacking my country with false Russian propaganda, and me not tell him what I think of it.

So, let's talk about Ukraine's brand-new 44th mechanized brigade. They got an interesting mix of armored vehicles.
Militaryland:
David Axe, writing in Forbes, is concerned that the brigade isn't getting any "real tanks." He and others have pointed out that the 105mm gun on Leopard 1 doesn't pack enough punch to consistently take out more modern tanks.
I'm not sure that's really such a concern, as tank-to-tank battles have been rare in this conflict. But I also think it's telling that some of this brigade has already been sent to the Kreminna area, with the rest of it likely to follow. I conclude that this brigade will be used to prevent any further Russian advance along that axis, and the fact that it's mainly getting older equipment means that it was understood from the beginning to be unsuited to the main Ukrainian offensive action.

That others are uncomfortable with this hopefully accurate reportage informs us of their motives. If our reports of the war are inaccurate, they can point that out with credible evidence. That is not what this new group of posters are doing…
