I agree, while there have been some serious wider strategic mistakes, especially on the southern front, the smaller level stuff tends to show Ukrainian units performing well.

If they are true to form I would expect to see some unique adaptions to attempt to overcome this soon, unlike Russia, the Ukranians have generally shown the ability to adapt quickly to new battlefield conditions.
I do think that where we are seeing a lot of the positive footage coming out from i.e. Bahkmut is due to the below
- The units there have been in that particular area for months, they know it well and have copious amounts of real time experience in its conditions and are simply having a greater degree of success.
- Defences, especially mines, had not been well built up in the vicinity.
- They are purposefully using this to tweak the Russian's noses after their own snail pace assault on it.
