There is actual nostalgia for Joseph Stalin in that country. Not that many people actually remember Stalinism as most should be dead by now. But, I’m sure that doesn’t stop them from thinking that their current predicament could be helped by a strongman.

I've seen multiple people say that the "40 mile" part is bullshite. It is really 4ish miles and is around 40 miles or so from Kyiv.
Think about what a 40 mile long convoy would entail. It isn't a 40 mile long convoy.

If Putin is really dying or becoming unhinged, other border countries joining NATO may be enough to cause him to do something drastic. Besides NATO military entering Ukraine and fighting this is the next likeliest thing to set him off.

4x5280. Divided by 20 foot long truck. Multiply by 30 men per truck. At least > 15,000 - 25,000 troops.
