It is reported that in Yakymivka, Zaporizhzia region a railway bridge was blown up by local partisans. Yakimivka a logistical hub on the railway connection between Dhzankoy (Crimea) and Melitopol.

Yeah, Russia's supply routes to its forces in southern Ukraine are a key factor in this offensive. If Ukraine can turn off that rail link, then the only way is the M14 road from Mariupol.

That's one more reason that the main thrust may be where it seems to be: if Ukraine can take Staromlynivka and turn it into a forward operating base, they will put Mariupol and that road into regular HIMARS range.

BREAKING:

The Ukrainian Army has taken Makarivka.

Incoming reports stating that the Ukrainians have thrown in massive reinforcements in that area.

Things are moving really fast in Zaporizhzhia right now.

Tactics are important but logistics win wars. You don’t have to push back the entire front. You cut off their ability to supply the front and you don’t have to fight everybody all at once. You can fight at your at your choosing.

Seems like some good news for Ukraine overall, but important to note that the Russian defensive line is still roughly 10km south of the action

For context, Blahodatne and Neskuchne, which Ukraine appears to have retaken, are shaded in black, and I left markers for Makarivka and Urozhaine, where fighting is reportedly taking place. Russia's main defensive line is 10km south of Urozhaine

Also from Visegrad 24 - looks like 8 strikes, the last one has something cooking off that looks weird.

Massive Ukrainian strike on a Russian military logistics center.

If, and it’s a giant if, Ukraine can continue this drive south and disrupt or entirely cut off ground supply through Mauripol and Berdyansk, all the fortifications in melitopol and west of melitopol won’t matter if the supply lines are compromised. That area becomes a siege similar to kherson. I frankly assume that’s the plan. Turn everything west of Berdyansk into an island from supply lines and wait the Russians out.

It’s what separates our military from everyone else. Our logistics capability is unrivaled. We can get military power anywhere in the world in hours or days instead of weeks or months. Our air mobility command can fly staggering amounts of men and material to wherever it is needed on the planet. Even China can’t touch us in this area.
