@Visegrad24
As I said a week ago, when this war started last year, many people in Poland thought that they had a buffer state between them and Russia. Now, they all know that they essentially have Russia right on their border. And that's not a comfortable thought for Poles.
Untangling the Belarus problem is going to be a significant issue in resolving the conflict and getting NATO to a place of any true peace with Russia.
quote:
General Waldemar Skrzypczak, former commander of the Polish Land Forces & fmr Deputy Minister of Defense, has said Poland should prepare for a coming uprising against Lukashenko in Belarus.
He added that Poland should aid those military formations just as it aids Ukraine.
Skrzypczak commented on the Freedom of Russia Legion's actions in Belgorod & said similar things could soon happen in Belarus too.
"If the Ukrainian counteroffensive is successful, the Belarusian soldiers allied with the Ukrainian Army won't quit. They'll go to Belarus"
" I hope this will trigger an uprising in Belarus, this is what Lukashenko is afraid of. Let's prepare for an uprising in Belarus, because it will happen. The point is that we should not sleep through this moment."
"We must be ready to support the troops that will carry out the operation against Lukashenko. We have reasons to help them, just as we help Ukraine. The Belarusians will support them against Lukashenko with enthusiasm. He doesn't the military potential to prevent such an uprising"

More news from @visegrad24:
In truth, the Swiss are making the Germans promise not to send these particular Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. But this obviously means that Germany could send 25 other Leopards to Ukraine without any effect on its own security.

BREAKING:
The Swiss government has decided to sell 25 decommissioned Leopard 2 tanks back to Germany.
It will make it possible to send them further to Ukraine in the future.
The decision will have to be approved in the Swiss parliament in the coming weeks.

There are some pro-Ukrainian accounts saying that the "Russian freedom fighters" did not actually lose the vehicles shown in Russian media. This is the most popular one.
I don't believe that claim at all. This thread, I believe, takes that theory down completely.
But, just at a more basic level, Russia couldn't get those guys out of Russia for well over 24 hours, and people think that, an hour later, they had a fake scene staged for the cameras, with vehicles brought from some other part of the front line? Really?

And apparently the report from the Russian government that the "Russian freedom fighters" were "liquidated" was greatly exaggerated. Twitter Link to report of News Conference

If that is the case I can think of several countries on continental Europe and from central Asia who might like to whip out some old maps and show them to Russia.
Yeah, I'm in Astana, Kazakhstan tonight. It wasn't really a city before the late 1800's when the Russians built a fort here. Relations between Kazakhstan (and Uzbekistan where I've been too) are complicated, and out of the hands of ordinary citizens in any case. It's been an interesting trip and I don't know that I've learned a whole lot other than:
1) The Russian language is ubiquitous and dominates business dealings.
2) There are a LOT of Russian draft dodgers waiting outside of Putin's grasp in the Stans.
3) At airports the spread between what Rubles are bought and sold for is huge, something like 60%. For the USD it's less than 1% spread which surprises me. There is NO confidence in the Ruble.
4) Soviet inefficiency and bureaucracy is still pervasive in governments in the Stans, but over the top consumer luxury capitalism is pervasive too, and expanding beyond the infrastructure (roads especially). Weird mix.
5) The landscapes can be pretty amazing here. Huge mountains, deserts, endless steppes.
6) From very limited conversations the people are simply resigned to whatever their governments do. They don't think a lot about Ukraine/Russia policy.

Doesn’t take away the joy of watching the sons of communist get blown to bits by the Ukrainians.

??Today, the Russians began to gather heavy artillery near Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia region.
This was announced by the mayor of the temporarily occupied Melitopol Ivan Fedorov.
A few weeks ago they dug trenches there, and for the past few hours they have been pulling up heavy artillery, including the Hyacinth self-propelled gun” - Fedorov wrote.

It looks like a war of attrition. Ukrainian bodies vs. Russian vehicles. I think Peter Zeihan stated that Ukraine would have to have an 8-1 kill ratio vs. Russia.
That might be attainable in a defensive posture, I don't know if they can do it with an offensive.
Is anybody worried about a depleted Russia flippin a nuke into Kyiv? That never seems to be discussed.

Not me! I bet Russia marched into Kiev 6 months ago and the media won’t tell us about it!
