The fact that this is seemingly still ongoing after almost 48 hours is embarrassing for Russia

Rybar deplores the fact that the Russian MoD appears to be lying about the occupation of Russian territory by the RVC and the LFR.

Despite the fact that the situation in the Belgorod region has relatively stabilized (LINK information pumping of the population continues. Photos and videos appeared on the Web, taken yesterday while entering the territory of the Russian Federation, thereby allegedly refuting the statements of the Russian Ministry of Defense and Governor Gladkov. It will seem to an inexperienced viewer that someone in this situation is lying (given the silence of official sources, with the exception of Gladkov for almost a day, it’s no wonder). The lack of more frames and a clear refutation, these facts are not obvious to most viewers.
Something incomprehensible happened in the eyes of the layman: yesterday they almost took Belgorod, and today the Ministry of Defense says that everything is fine. And the Network is full of videos with Ukrainian formations on the territory of the Russian Federation. The layman will not understand when it is filmed: he does not need it. But he will draw certain conclusions.

Rybar also posts a video of locals in a nearby area demanding that the government issue them weapons and allow them to form a territorial defense force.

In theory, for these purposes there should be territorial defense. It even exists on paper. But its quality leaves much to be desired.
According to Alexander Sladkov, a resident of one of the settlements taken yesterday was killed by militants because of a military uniform found in his house. Information (LINK about losses among the Belgorod militia is a reason to think about the status of such units.
If there are territorial defense units, then they must be armed, organized and provided.
Otherwise, if, God forbid, yesterday's scenario repeats itself (we really hope not), then this is not a militia at all. These are just people who can be killed for their uniforms in the closet.

A possible early shaping move by Germany to supply longer ranged munitions to Ukraine similar to Storm Shadow, although the German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius appears to poo-poo the idea we have seen this slow walk several times already.
With 150 of these Ukraine could do some serious damage to Russian supply and command capabilities, though will likely require modification as with Storm Shadow for Ukraine to use.
Also some interesting details about increased Patriot production by MDBA later in the article too.
Article is in German so have quoted the pertinent bits. Originally ran across it via Twitter - https://twitter.com/NOELreports/status/1661004159724957698

CDU defense politician and retired colonel. Roderich Kiesewetter sees this as a new strategy in supporting Ukraine. „ The partners of Ukraine must now go all-in ‚ and deliver to Ukraine everything that Ukraine can use in the battle of connected weapons and is permitted under international law ‘, Kieseweter demands towards the RND. „ Taurus cruise missile with a range of up to 400 to 500 kilometers would be a very helpful contribution from Germany. “ You should deliver everything NATO would use itself. „ There must be no more red lines here."
quote:
Taurus: 150 ready-to-use cruise missiles
The Taurus missiles are the German counterpart to the British Storm Shadows, the differences according to expert Hoffmann are very small. Both can be used very flexibly, the range of the Taurus is even somewhat larger. According to pebble weather, Germany has a small number of these high-precision guided missiles, but they would massively bring qualitative added value to Ukraine and allow blows against the military infrastructure of the Russians far behind the front line. „ 10 years ago, around 600 of these cruise missiles were procured for the Bundeswehr, of which only around 150 are still operational “, says the CDU politician. However, these guided missiles are used much more sensibly in Ukraine – than that they are stored in Germany.
quote:
Expert Hoffmann assumes that the German armaments manufacturer MBDA can start production of the Taurus again if the federal government decides to deliver to Ukraine. The group last delivered Taurus to South Korea in 2018. Just a few days ago, MBDA announced that it would significantly expand the production of Patriot guided missiles. A company spokesman did not want to answer RND demand how quickly the post-production of Taurus can begin. Expert Hoffmann believes that MBDA is able to quickly get some of the Taurus cruise missiles that are currently not operational back on track with the appropriate haste and an order.
quote:
Before use, however, the fighter jets of Ukraine still have to be modified. Because the Soviet aviators are generally not compatible with western weapon systems. This had taken about three months for the British Storm Shadows. „ If the Storm Shadows can be integrated into a Soviet fighter plane, this is in principle not a problem for Taurus either “, Hoffmann tells the RND. The Oslo expert expects Ukraine and its western partners with all their experience to have the Taurus cruise missiles ready for use in a month or two.
quote:
Pistorius reluctant to deliver Taurus
Defense Minister Boris Pistorius was reluctant on Tuesday to propose that the Taurus be delivered to Ukraine. He did not want to go into every weapon system and give a hypothetical answer to a hypothetical question, said the SPD politician on Tuesday in the margins of the EU Defense Ministers' meeting in Brussels. „ I think it has proven that we do not constantly do this or draw red or white lines “, said Pistorius. Ukraine should be given substantial support and responsible for dealing with it. At the same time, Pistorius stated that he was „ of the opinion that we should support Ukraine with all the systems that are permitted under international law that are needed to win this war and that we are able to, to give “.

Reading around some, and I think that this is true.
It seems to be over. The Russians lost a BTR-82A, captured at the border post itself, and the "freedom fighters" lost two MaxxPros. Probably a handful of deaths on either side.

Whoa - that is as clear as one can be when condemning Putin for this war.
Scholz changing his tune as compared to the previous lukewarm responses from Germany. Can’t recall how much they have stepped up their military supplies recently to match the rhetoric. But this is a noticeable sea change.

This story in the New Yorker hits incredibly hard. Just read it, but here's a couple of small excerpts:

Two Weeks at the Front in Ukraine
This is simply a must read.
It is written with The New Yorker's typical flowery language which can be jarring if you are used to reading tweets and Reuter's articles but like good prose it takes you into the trenches, vehicles, and bunkers. It is harsh, nonapologetic, and visceral. I found myself gritting my teeth with anxiety as they went through the firing sequence for the RPG-9.
The best-written piece about the human element of the war I have read.

There's no confirmation of that. Until I see evidence, I will assume that there were likely just exchanges of fire across the border in those other two areas.
