It is Russian actions like this that forced Ukraine to seek ties to the EU/NATO/US
People should ask themselves why Warsaw Pact countries sought to integrate themselves with the EU and NATO before the USSR technically dissolved.
The pattern by 'I just don't think we should spend money on Ukraine' people always places the US as the center of world affairs and denies agency to everyone else. Therefore, regardless of what specific events nations were responding to when they sought out the Western Alliance, the US will be at the center.
It is literally the same position that leftists espoused during the Cold War.

There's a large segment of the PT board that repeats this, even though it is also nonsense.

And like the Russia Ukraine situation where’s they overlook Russian expansionism in Georgia and Chechnya, that corner of the internet (the Ron Paul church of recovering addicts) has no explanation for why Japan was already committing imperial atrocities in places we had no involvement or influence in.

I petition we update the name of this thread to "Russia-Ukraine | Russia-Russia Conflict" or "Russia-Ukraine Conflict | Russia Civil War"

That sounds like sarcasm to me.

I don't.
But the US and Russia have been jockeying over Ukraine for 30 years. Its just that we're too much of a pussy to use our own dead soldiers.

Updates dried up a bit in the past 1-2 hours. Meanwhile, both

and Madyar saying more good news to come today. We'll see where this goes. I would have certainly expected the RDK to withdraw at a certain point, but no indication so far.

I wonder how many of them are actually Russian bots.

Have they held a snap referendum yet in Belgorod? Putin's big on recognizing the results of those.

What do the Ukrainian people want? What position have they voted for, repeatedly?
You morons need to get something in your head. No one wants to be in Russia's sphere of influence. It also isn't the 18th century anymore, and carving up the world into spheres of influence is idiotic. The way forward has been shown, as the only thing that prevents even low-level conflict is complete economic integration.
The US doesn't even need to use soldiers or weapons to show that being on our side is superior. Russia has to resort to violence to prevent other sovereign nations from acting in their own interest.
Your attempts to 'muh both sides' this are nonsensical.

Today is the most fun that Ukrainian Twitter has had since the Moskva was sunk.

Do Ukranian votes force us to go to war with Russia?
Is it their war or ours?

How about you answer the question I posed to you before you ask your own?

What does that have to do with the United States?

Because the US leads the other faction, as the guarantor of global trade. And European security is central to the stability of global trade, which is why European security has been central to US security policy since WWII.

This conflict isn’t about the US. The US is merely a part of a coalition that includes North American, European and Asian countries that support Ukraine’s defense against illegal aggression.

And?

Lol like Russia does? We certainly care more about them than the Russians, as only one side has used violence to achieve its interest. The US's power is so great that the Ukrainian people want to join our side, a side which will ensure that they can live their life in peace and make money, and they want to do that just because the US exists. The US doesn't need to do anything else other than to continue to exist as the beacon of free trade. Why the interests of Ukrainian citizens doesn't matter is curious, given you can't answer the simple question I posted earlier. You can invoke them quite easily here, but can't answer honestly about what they themselves voted for, or what the goals were of the Orange Revolution or what sparked the Euromaiden protests.
You just want to blame the US exclusively and excessively, as though the Russians themselves have no agency. You'll ignore the fact of what the Russians themselves have been saying since the 90's, and how the Russians have acted since 2002. Why you are choosing this particular position is curious.
