I don't see any younger potential leadership stepping up. This in ingrained in their society over a great many generations.
Interesting that a friend is applying US citizenship because his international business travel on a Russian passport has gotten difficult and will be for years to come. Also, business has been crappy in Russia for a decade. That is why he moved here after leaving Gazprom as a director of finance.

Wait wait wait. Are you really gloating about taking Bakhmut after almost 10 months? 10 months! If that is something to feel proud about for Russians I feel really bad them because that is truly pathetic. A supposed superpower took almost a year to take one town the size of Kenner at the cost of thousands upon thousands of Russian dead and tens of thousands wounded. Congratulations you now have a big pile of rubble you can hoist the hammer and sickle…..I mean the Russian flag over. What an accomplishment! What’s next? Maybe they will take a hotdog stand in just 6 months now! Be afraid, be very afraid. Ukraine lured them into a fight over a dead city while they trained and outfitted a dozen new assault brigades and the Russians swallowed the bait like slut swallows a cock. Good luck with ya’ll’s T-55s against Leopards, Abrams and Challengers. I’m sure y’all will do just fine……

The why are y'all acting like Russia is the largest military threat on the planet? It took them 10 months to capture a city but we're supposed to believe they're on the brink of marching through Paris?

You do understand that the mercenary you talk about is backed by the Russian military who provides his men with support on land and in the air? And that Russia supplies him with ammonia and food as well as soldiers to fight along side of him?

It’s pretty clear Ukraine stopped really fighting for Bakhmut a while ago and instead did what was needed to destroy as many Russian units as possible before giving up a completely destroyed city. Ukraine is focused on the big push, not Bakhmut.
