Tactics and skill of tank crews matter. Obviously, they are more successful with better equipment, but have used less to good effect against Russia's two best tank outfits. One near Kyiv and the other near Kharkiv

British Defence Intelligence
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 5 February 2023
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
Over the last week, Russia has continued to make small advances in its attempt to encircle the Donbas town of Bakhmut.
The M03 and the H32 - the two main roads into the city for Ukrainian defenders - are likely now both threatened by direct fire, following the Russian advances. Earlier in the week, Wagner paramilitary forces highly likely seized a subordinate route which links Bakhmut to the town of Siversk.
While multiple alternative cross-country supply routes remain available to Ukrainian forces, Bakhmut is increasingly isolated.

Morning all, couple of things this morning from my weekly calls. Prigo and WG aren’t seen as getting the job done in Kremlin circles. The thought is that at wars end he will in fact take all the shite for the loss as well as financial misdeeds. There is a question of if his geolocation will be leaked to the west to prevent a trial where he could potentially turn on Vlad. The military command is currently on the rise again in terms of influence and Putin’s favor. A hallmark of Putins control is his ability to play various factions against each other and his consistent replacement of one official with another seemingly randomly. This is the first time in two decades where that’s not really working. GRU/FSB numbers are leaking again for KIA Wounded Missing presumed dead and the figure 200k for KIA and MPD is out there. There will be a push around the 1 year anniversary to get that number out amongst the Russian citizens at home but especially abroad. Intelligence community is working on when and who goes first in a spring offensive. China is gonna blink. It will say some things to save face but it will blink if it doesn’t want catastrophe and collapse. They don’t have the position they thought they would at this particular moment. Some shite or get off the pot moments are coming for 3 Western countries in the next month, folks are going to get onboard or they are gonna get swept up in some stuff of their own making.

It's apparently getting much harder for Ukraine to recruit new troops. In my opinion, this is one of the most concerning developments lately for Ukraine. In Kiyanyn's daily update from Bakhmut, he goes after all the lawyers advertising help for draftees who don't want to fight.

Discusses various weapon systems and makes a strong argument for DPICM rounds.
Dan Rice, Special Advisor to Ukraine Army CinC Zaluzhnyi
The first thing Ukraine needs is the capability to strike deep into the occupied territories
05.02.2023 12:50
Against the backdrop of growing support from Ukraine's Western partners in terms of arms supply, including heavy tanks, and mounting concerns about the Kremlin's likely plans to launch another "major offensive" attempt, Ukrinform spoke with Dan Rice, special adviser to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, who once again visited Ukraine for consultations with the military leadership and assessment of the situation at the front.
He spoke of what weapons should Ukraine ask for from its partners immediately, how Putin's nuclear blackmail is perceived in the West, whether it is worth worrying about further bipartisan support for Ukraine in the United States, what is the modern-day war about, and much more.

The PT is now claiming that Russia has only lost 18,000 dead compared to Ukraine's 157,000 dead. Oh, and also, 2000 dead Nato soldiers

This has been rumored for several days now:
My sense is that Reznikov has done a great job as defense minister, but the food procurement scandal happened on his watch. I don't think that there's any implication that Reznikov was involved in that corruption, but there has to be accountability. And Ukraine is not going to tolerate any kind of corruption at all -- those days are over.

Guys I have bad news about Kherson and Kharkiv. It was all part of Putin’s 4d chess to lose thousands of miles of territory and major strategic cities :

I think some of our vatnik friends here have been reading Russian MoD propaganda again. Remember that Russia's MoD has always been perfectly truthful and accurate in this conflict, beginning with this official report almost a year ago:

We should absolutely be sending cluster bombs to Ukraine, especially with us just going to destroy them if not and they would be perfect for the kind of all cannon fodder, no armored vehicles attacks that Russia is making now. They would inflate the Russian casualty count like helium into a ballon. We have them for both the 155 mm and the 105 mm so both caliber western guns they have on the battlefield would be able to use them.
