More commentary on my last post from the Russia (Wagner) Grey Zone Channel

This post contains video the pictures came from at about the 1 minute mark.

As Wagner's GREY ZONE comments, the infantry is advancing practically in an open field. No support with armoured vehicles was provided and the infantry was left to their own devices.

Curious video from the Zaporizhzia direction where an enemy group of around 50 infantry and 3 tanks are being destroyed by Ukrainian artillery fire. At the end, a quick interception is available where a soldier is yelling, wondering about evacuation.

The Germans are the best ally Putin has.

JFC somewhere in Zaporizhzhia Oblast Russian infantry somehow got the impression they were Dick Winters and Easy Co. of the 506th assaulting the crossroads.
I am afraid "I'm up I'm seen I'm down" doesn't work well over a kilometer of open ground.
What makes it even more sad is even with "miles" of open ground they still can kept proper spacing.

If even one of those guys running across that open field is still drawing breath at this moment I would absolutely shocked. Good lord the Russians are done absolute savages that don’t give a shite about their people. That’s honestly a very sad picture.

It’s time to pull the big dick on the block card with the Germans. They need to pick a side and be ready to live with the consequences of their choice. As long as everyone lets them straddle they fence like only the Germans can do they will continue to do so.

Did anyone watch the Austin/Milley presser?
I wasn't able to due to work.
If so, was anything surprising?

You may as well sink those Bradleys and Strykers if you don’t have tanks to go with them. The Ukrainians had to feel like today was a massive failure. The one main thing they needed and asked for was denied besides a handful of tanks from the UK and Poland. It’s a real shame they are being given the bread and mayo but not the ham and then being told to basically do your best with it.

did i miss where poland announced how many they were sending? cause they have like 200 to send which may not win the war but its a good start.

I didn’t watch. It pains me too much to look at Lloyd Austin and Mark Milley and I’m sure they would have been front and center. All I know is Poland and the UK both promised around a company of Challengers and Leopard 2A4s respectively. That’s not even going to make a dent.

Jesus Christ you guys act as if the Ukrainians don’t have any tanks, they do.
Brads and Strykers are an immediate upgrade. And more tanks are coming.

You are talking about a country where the leader of the center right party for years was that East German communist Merkel.
Now you have in leadership the socialist SPD. If you look into Scholz's earlier years you not only see ties to socialism but downright red also.
After all we are talking about a party that refuses to kick Gerhard Schroeder out.
IMO, if the west refuses to equip Ukraine with enough of the weapons needed to go on the offensive then this whole thing is looking bad. If Russia goes on the offensive first, with massive upgrades in personnel and Ukraine looses the initiative they can grind Ukraine down eventually. Putin may be planning for the knock out blow. Putin is not going to quit unless he is soundly defeated on the battlefield. Offensive capability is the only way Ukraine can win this. I think whoever gains the initiative in late winter/spring is going to win this.

Ukraine has more tanks now than when they started the war thanks to generous donations from the Russians.
Posted on 1/20/23 at 11:35 am to Chromdome35
Exactly, MBTs are nice, but not their most immediate need.
Posted on 1/20/23 at 11:36 am to Lakeboy7
Sure tanks are probably coming eventually but you’re getting to the point where if you don’t act soon it might be too little too late. Yes Ukraine has tanks but Russia has 10x as many so Ukraine needs all the armor it can get, especially superior western systems that help make up for the difference in numbers. You still have to train the crews and get them to the battlefield and that will take months. Spring is roughly 10-12 weeks away when the ground will be conducive for an offensive. That’s not a lot of time. The Germans could have made this go smoothly but then they wouldn’t be Germans I guess. Now you’re looking at summer at the earliest to get western tanks to Ukraine and that’s only if a deal happens in the very near future. Time is Ukraine’s main enemy.

Coast guards rescued three divers off the northern coast of Poland over the weekend whose dubious explanation of their night-time dive near critical energy infrastructure, along with their mysterious identities, has reportedly sparked a cross-agency investigation. The three men, who told authorities they were Spanish nationals, were rescued near the Polish coastal city of Gdansk on Saturday night after their small motorboat broke down and they couldn't return to shore. Since then, doubts over their intentions have mounted. They were rescued not far from the Naftoport facility at the Port of Gdansk, which receives tanker shipments of oil and other and petroleum products. They were also found near an area where there are plans to build a new floating natural gas terminal. The Maritime Search and Rescue Service SAR told CBS News the rescue operation involved police officers, firefighters, and medical workers. SAR spokesman Rafal Goeck described the rescue operation — at just before 2 a.m. local time — as "rather unnatural." "We received a signal from the fire brigade about a vessel in trouble," Goeck told CBS News, adding that conditions at the time were rough, with strong winds and high seas. The air temperature was only about 43 degrees Fahrenheit, and the water was closer to 37.

Russia has 10x the number of tanks? And yet are sending unprotected infantry out to be slaughtered.
In the spring, when the fighting will be done, the Ukrainians are going to be in really good shape capability wise.
There seems to have been an expectation that there would large scale operations in the winter, that never was the case. Rest, refit, rearm and bring the pain in the spring.

the cross field manned assult shown a few posts was about 50 men and 3 armored vehicles with at least one tank.
i think counting tanks made since the 1960/70s they have have over 10K in storage. ukraine has about 3000 to 3500 from what i remember.
however the state of readiness of both side is what is in question.....
