To be honest, I thought with the D’s being largely on the right side of this war with their party leadership putting a lot at stake backing it that the “Squad” could maybe hold it together long enough to not sabotage their own midterm chances….beyond however far they have already sabotaged it.

Sure, but its also the primary tool of 'We are really serious' brinksmanship, when they are not, in fact, serious.

It’s nothing. Both Russia and the US do these exercises. If there is advance notification, it’s just a routine exercise. The real thing would not be preceded by notification.
