23,000 rounds of 155 mm scared me. That means we are extremely low on our own stocks of them.
Not arguing, but I don't understand why it means that.

It still pisses me off seeing all those humvees, MRAPs, tanks and helos just left when we got out of Afghanistan. We left an arsenal for the Taliban. Just think how much that material we left behind would benefit Ukraine. Full tactical gear and weapons. Rifles, grenades and optics that could be put to good use. I know it’s more expensive to transport it back than just get new equipment but that takes time and any give territory’s anything? I’d have gotten everything out just for that reason. All the work that went into Bagram and now it’s theirs just rubs me the wrong way.

Because we have given them already close to a million rounds and I’m not even sure if we have any in production anywhere. Not at all saying we shouldn’t continue to help, we should, but it’s just a concern. This is why I hope we send more 105 mm guns and ammunition to augment the 155 mm.

While I wonder about the limited plants producing munitions, there must be less waste, by a LOT, than pre 1980 when consolidation and tighter controls began to be implemented

they won’t be able to fire conventional artillery shell for shell with the Russians. There are millions of 152 mm shells in long term storage.. They may be old but Russia is still going to use them.
Yes, this is correct. I am glad you recognize this.

I really just can't get over this for 2 main reasons
1) I was assured that this time the gloves were truly coming off
2) and the non sarcastic reason, why would you say you have no reason to attack military targets

What impresses me the most about Zelensky is that he has been the elected president of Ukraine for less than three years and he has been responsible for decades of corruption in the Ukraine, thd Ukrainian Nazis, dozens of Bio Labs, aiding Hunter Biden, money laundering in Obama’s term, the coup of 2014 and the Russian invasion of the Donbas and the Russian takeover of Crimea. Not just biolabs but per Russia, Biowarfare Labs which used US military drugs to turn Ukrainians into superhuman soldiers and why 100,000 elite Russian troops were stopped from taking Kyiv
Thanks for setting me straight. I missed that.

That was not a compliment comrade. Russia keeps shite rusting away in Siberian hell warehouses for decades and throws it to the front lines. It’s actually pathetic. The U.S. gets rid of munitions after a period of time but Russians just store it and hope for the best that it works when fired and doesn’t blow the gun crew to hell. Russia may have more shells and tanks but it’s shite equipment that can’t stand up to western weapons. It’s a complete joke seeing a T-62 tank on a battlefield in 2022.

British Defence Intelligence
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 15 October 2022
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
Contingents of mobilised Russian reservists have been deployed to Ukraine over the last two weeks. Their average level of personal equipment is almost certainly lower than the already poor provision of previously deployed troops.
Many reservists are likely required to purchase their own body armour, especially the modern 6B45 vest, which is meant to be on general issue to combat units as part of the Ratnik personal equipment programme. This vest has been selling on Russian online shopping sites for 40,000 roubles (approx. USD $640), up from around 12,000 roubles (appox. USD $190) in April.
In 2020, the Russian authorities announced that 300,000 sets of Ratnik body armour had been supplied to the Russian military, which was ample to equip the force currently deployed in Ukraine. Endemic corruption and poor logistics remain one of the underlying causes of Russia's poor performance in Ukraine.

All of these telegram channels have been cheer leaders for Russia since the start of the war. It is the ultimate irony that the very government they have been pumping is going to throw them all in jail.
Whether the telegram channels were organic or intentionally created is irrelevant. They were state sanctioned, hard line rhetoric. Good propaganda because some measure of information and factual critique, consumed in both Russia and the West. They justified the use of brutal tactics for the Russian audience, and sowed uncertainty for Western consumers with the nuclear saber rattling.
By outward appearances, Putin's options have been dwindling. If a poorly equipped and trained 300k mobilization is defeated in the field, the war seemingly would be lost and perhaps spell the end of Putinism.
He hasn't prepared the Russian populace for anything other than total victory. A defeat could lead to civil unrest, renewed political opposition, or dissent from within. It'll be interesting to see what, if anything, takes the place of the telegram channels in the information space.
I personally think that Putin needs to create his own off ramp if he is to survive politically. Some advocate for the West and/or Ukraine to cede one to him, which is an asinine argument.

There are now widespread reports from both Russian and Ukrainian sources that another big Ukrainian push has begun in the Kherson region.
There's reportedly a lot of fighting all along the frontlines, but the Ukrainian objective seems to be along the eastern edge of the Kherson front, pushing south along the Dnipro River.
It will be interesting to see how far they can get this time.

I’ve heard very good things about Kherson this morning, the surrenders are up a ton and those 400+ rookie numbers are moving towards 500 per day. Also a bingo on a WG again.
