I wouldn't say spilling as it is gas, more like bubbling up

Define detrimental. As a Yankee, you probably know little about pipeline repair even on the seabed.

Is this the guy who categorically denies Chinese crimes against Uighurs ?

I don’t see the major motive for any parties involved when you can just shut it off.

Correct me if I am wrong, but hasn't Nord Stream 1 already been shut off to Europe for a month now?

Several European countries are saying Nord Stream as an intentional act. So next question is how the West/NATO responds to it. For discussion sake, does this attack warrant an Article 5 if Russia is proven to be the one responsible?

No. NS2 is wholly owned by Gazprom and NS1 is owned by a consortium with Gazprom as the majority and some Euro companies own 49%. If stealing or destruction of O&G assets owned by companies from NATO countries triggered Article 5 Russia would have triggered it in 2014 when they stole the assets of O&G companies in the Crimean offshore oil and gas fields.

As not being underwater in the Baltic assessing the damages, you have no idea either. I’m just going off what’s being reported chief. Could be wrong.

There’s a big difference between shutting it off and destroying it.

Yes, but it does provide a reference point when looking for motives.

Qui bono arguments won't get you very far when there are multiple parties who would potentially benefit. Best to wait for more evidence.

Entire 40 foot sections of pipe can be replaced by divers at that depth. It would cost a lot but certainly less espensive than another $10 billion investment
