UPDATE ON UKRAINE 24 September 2022
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
On 21 and 22 September 2022, Russia struck the Pechenihy dam on the Siverskyy Donets River using short range ballistic missiles or similar weapons. This follows a strike on the Karachunivske Dam near Krivyy Rih in central Ukraine on 15 September 2022.
Ukrainian forces are advancing further downstream along both rivers. As Russian commanders become increasingly concerned about their operational set-backs, they are probably attempting to strike the sluice gates of dams, in order to flood Ukrainian military crossing points.
The attacks are unlikely to have caused significant disruption to Ukrainian operations due to the distance between the damaged dams and the combat zones.

ISW Update Sept 23
quote:
The Russian mobilization system is struggling to execute the task Russian President Vladimir Putin set and will likely fail to produce mobilized reserve forces even of the low quality that Putin’s plans would have generated unless the Kremlin can rapidly fix fundamental and systemic problems.
quote:
Russian pro-war milbloggers and social media users are raising concerns about unlawful mobilization practices and showcasing many serious Russian mobilization problems on the second day of the mobilization effort.
quote:
Challenges and errors in the first days of executing a large-scale and demanding partial mobilization in the midst of a failing war are not necessarily surprising, although they suggest that the Russian military mobilization infrastructure was not better prepared for a major war than the Russian armed forces themselves.
quote:
Divergences from the mobilization decree and from Putin’s and Shoigu’s statements about the categories of men who are exempt from mobilization are also causing anger and mistrust toward Russian federal subjects and the Kremlin itself.
quote:
The highly nationalist and pro-war milblogger community is calling on the Kremlin to address these mobilization issues rapidly, but the Kremlin is unlikely to be able to meet their demands
quote:
Disparate mobilization processes across different regions may exacerbate social tensions in Russia already raised by perceived inequalities in the creation of volunteer battalions
quote:
Key Takeaways
Russian partial mobilization efforts are suffering from serious and systemic problems in their first days, generating popular resentment and setting conditions to produce a mobilized reserve force incapable of accomplishing the tasks Russian President Vladimir Putin has set for it.
Protests, attacks against recruiting centers, and vandalism have occurred across Russia in the first 48 hours after the announcement of partial mobilization.
Ukrainian forces continued to advance north and northwest of Lyman.
Ukrainian forces continued their interdiction campaign in Kherson Oblast and maintained operational silence regarding Ukrainian progress on the axis.
Russian forces continued to launch unsuccessful assaults near Bakhmut and northwest of Donetsk City.
Ukrainian forces reportedly shot down an Iranian-made Mohajer-6 drone in an unspecified area of the Black Sea, likely near Odesa.
Russian occupation authorities began the voting period for their sham annexation referenda on September 23 with overt coercion and falsified turnout numbers.
Russian occupation authorities remained on high alert to prevent partisan attacks against sham election workers, polling stations, and government facilities.

Update 9/23/22: Ukrainian forces advances have completely stalled. Totally exhausted themselves taking back eastern Kharkiv Oblast which Russia didn’t even want to annex. Will never take Lyman. Will never take Kherson. Russia about to formally annex occupied territories. Pee yellow flag of Ukraine will never fly on any of them again. GAE BTFO.

I downvoted not for the link but the news is really sad

Terrain changed thus slowdown on the Kherson Front. Lyman once encircled will run out of supplies. Then supplies to Severodonetsk begin to dry up.
Terrain matters and Ukraine is not a flat plain like pundits portrayed earlier this year. Noted is dunderhead Col MacGregor (ret thank God). We sure dodged a bullet with congress being opposed to his appointment as German Ambassador. His views are straight out of Russia Today (RT) or Alex Jones.

Russians massively hand out mobilisation notices to Crimean Tatars who have to flee from Crimea
Crimean Tatars are fleeing from occupied Crimea because they don’t want to fight against their own country and kill Ukrainians.
Source: sources among Crimean Tatars in occupied Crimea,; CrimeaSOS
Details: The mobilisation campaign started in Crimea primarily affects Crimean Tatars.
80% of all mobilisation notices in Crimea were handed to Crimean Tatars.
Details: Many flee Crimea with their families as they don’t want to fight. People flee to the nearest border countries: Georgia, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Belarus.
Human right activists from the "Crimea SOS" organization state that the mobilization of Crimean Tatars may lead to genocide. According to their estimates, Crimean Tatars received 90% of mobilisation notices in Crimea.

Why is it that every time Russia has to go backwards it’s because “oh they didn’t want that land” that they spent thousands of troops, 100’s of million of equipment and ammo, and 6 months fighting to take. The Bee couldn’t write better humor.
What part of Ukraine does Russia want out of this? Does Russia really want Kherson, Melitopol, and Mariupol. Just asking for future ridicule reasons,

That fits perfectly with the other reports of the mobilization being aimed at those less desirable segments of their population and the regions already hit disproportionately from the war. When are governments (including our own) going to figure out that in this information world we live in these type of actions can’t be hidden?

LONDON, Aug 19 (Reuters) - A former mayor of a Russian city has been appointed to head a new Russian-installed government in northeastern Ukraine, the latest in a string of such appointments which Kyiv says are part of attempts to annexe its territory.
Andrei Alekseyenko resigned as mayor of Krasnodar, Russia's sixteenth-largest city, on Thursday. He will now head a new Russian-appointed council of ministers in the Kharkiv province, Russian state-owned news agency TASS reported on Friday, citing a decree by the local Russian-installed administration.
Yep they totally wanted nothing to do with Kharkiv

Will never take Lyman.
It's comic, because, after the fall of Kupiansk, there was no practical way for Russia to resupply its forces in Lyman.
Russia could have retreated from Lyman in good order and reset defenses at Zarichne and the Rivne River. Now, though, on Putin's orders, they are getting encircled and will likely suffer complete loss, and Russia will have to fall back to Kreminna.

I am very, very interested to see what happens with the reports that Kadryov has refused to do mobilization in Chechnya.
