And who does have a bearing on what is happen right now?

IMO he has some of the most honest commentary about the war to date. Certainly better than most I’ve seen or heard on this thread.

Your typical Ukraine is corrupt, Zelenskyy is corrupt, West is corrupt and the whole action is a giant money laundering scheme kind of propaganda vid.

The Grey Zone is also the name of a You Tube channel which is pro Fidel, Putin, etc... run by obvious leftists.

This one seems to be Russian based. That's a wow factor if they are putting this out there

Interesting video for 2 reasons:

1) The number of Ukrainian troops visible in the video
2) How densely packed they are, a couple of arty rounds would kill hundreds.

That leads me to think this is not close to the front or even a training area somewhere.

Somewhere near Izyum.

? I hope it is a training ground or something, it will not be transferred like this.

ETA: The video is now gone...i guess someone decided opsec wasn't being followed.

The video showed a column of Ukrainian troops at least 5 wide and hundreds of yards long.

Deputies in St. Petersburg to the State Duma to charge Putin with treason as a result of the Ukraine invasion and the effect it has had on Russia. Of course these guys will be in jail soon, if they aren't already, but this is a rather bold statement of official dissent.

I'm afraid they are all going to come down with the Russian window flu. It is deadly.

I've watched several long interviews of those who have fought in Ukraine, one of them returned. Another going back as soon as a pulminary medical condition rights itself. Up to recent days, they were all small unit operations guys. Two had former combat experience as Marines in the Middle East, one had no military experience at all but was involved in competitive shooting and an immigrant from Ukraine. He was pretty much, "That's Ukraine's problem to deal with" until he saw the village he spent his childhood in destroyed.

Who was the guy from Massachusetts with Ukrainian lineage who's interview was posted in here a while back? He wore shades through the interview and said he was going back after he sold his house. I was wondering what happened to him. Interview was with a really annoying blonde guy.

Below is a link to a good article from the Atlantic.
quote:

Let me tell you a story about a military that was supposedly one of the best in the world. This military had some of the best equipment: the heaviest and most modern tanks, next-generation aircraft, and advanced naval vessels. It had invested in modernization, and made what were considered some of Europe’s most sophisticated plans for conflict. Moreover, it had planned and trained specifically for a war it was about to fight, a war it seemed extremely well prepared for and that many, perhaps most, people believed it would win.
All of these descriptions could apply to the Russian army that invaded Ukraine last month. But I’m talking about the French army of the 1930s. That French force was considered one of the finest on the planet.

quote:

Western analysts took basic metrics (such as numbers and types of tanks and aircraft), imagined those measured forces executing Russian military doctrine, then concluded that the Ukrainians had no chance.

quote:

First, Western analysts misunderstood the Russian military’s ability to undertake the most complex operations and the robustness of its logistical capabilities. And second, prognosticators paid too little attention to the basic motivations and morale of the soldiers who would be asked to use the Russian military’s allegedly excellent doctrine and equipment.

quote:

To truly understand a military’s effectiveness, analysts must investigate not only how it looks on a spreadsheet but also how it may function in the chaos and pressure of a battlefield.

And our military, especially the US Army, is getting the benefit of both the spreadsheet and the battlefield, without the casualties.

Sound like the Ukrainians are trying to pull off a modern day version of Manstein’s “backhand blow”. And it looks like it just may work. Which this leads to two possibilities: 1. Russia finally goes full “total war” and this thing drags out for Lord knows how long.

Russia is 6.5 months behind in the mobilization effort. Ukraine has activated its reserves. It now has between 750,000-1,100,000 troops who have either seen combat during this invasion or the preceding 8 years of combat, and it hasn’t even started drafting conscripts from the 10
millions MAMs in the country. Russia has struggling to raise 40,000 - 50,000 green troops to replace its KIA. If Russia does go full out and declare war and mobilize fully then there will be at least a 6 month period before the Russian troops are similarly trained as the Ukrainians. If Russia does go full out and declares war on Ukraine then expect F16s and Patriot missiles and western tanks to flood Ukraine in those 6 months. Russia might have thousands of T62, T55s, and T34 tanks in storage but those are no match for the current Ukrainian tanks or Ukrainians with western tanks. Russia has squandered its chance for victory unless it goes nuclear.

Ukraine’s counteroffensive: Russian assault regiment “ceases to exist”
09.09.2022 19:20

According to the latest intelligence data, the invaders with the 202nd separate motorized rifle regiment, deployed in Kharkiv region, withdrew from their positions, moving to the nearest forest strip. As the unit’s commanders fled and communications were severed, the soldiers are calling their relatives requesting that they reach out to the upper command and get instructions on their further steps. Some are asking their wives to call the Russian defense ministry hotline and that of the Red Cross, demanding that they be extracted from Ukraine.

It was also established that Russia’s 237th guards airborne assault regiment “ceased to exist” as all of its servicemen were either killed or wounded in action. A significant part of survivors is in grave condition.

I have to say reading through everything I have so far today, I’m impressed by how Ukraine is doing. I really hope they keep it up, but Ukraine is also likely doubling down because they know General Winter is a month and a half away and they have to beat the dog shite out of them now because Europe will no longer have their backs when that happens.

Nah I talked with Europe; they are good with what Ukraine is doing and have no problem continuing their support into winter.

Maybe their bureaucrats, but I’ll believe it when I see it with the general population. There’s mass protests and rioting in Europe as we speak.

Didn't take long....
