Someone with military tactics knowledge tell me what is happening in this map. Is it as significant as it appears?
Yes, no, and maybe it just depends on how it is exploited. The key is the salient is almost certainly past the point of the Russian defenses/trenches. Defenses are almost always more vulnerable from the rear than from the front. This may allow the Ukrainian forces to get into those defenses and trenches from behind and neutralize them. If they do this it could have a zipper effect when the defenses just open up and the Ukes can pile in. This would be catastrophic for the Russian defensive effort on the west side of the Dnipro river.
It also potentially allows them to move conventional artillery into the salient (aka bulge) in order to put more things in range. You would normally not want to move HIMARs are other high value assets into the salient due to the continuing possibility of a pinch. This is the negative with a salient they always present a danger of being pinched off and stranding soldiers and equipment. This is what the Ukes are attempting to do on a larger scale with all the troops in the west bank of the river.
In general, it is a big positive for the Ukes but it can go to hell in a handbasket if they can't control the edges of the salient. Controlling lines like these (which I admit I have never been a part of in combat) takes a lot of good command and control and constant updating to the leadership. The OPFOR in this case the Russians "should" be constantly probing those salient borders and looking to break through and disrupt. If they have the leadership and expertise to do it properly is anyone's guess.

Lmao. Keep believing that boss.
Billions of our tax dollars going to a shithole that brings nothing to us in return nor anything to the Eastern bloc of Europe.

It’s always very dangerous having a bulge like that in your lines. The Germans were masters at punching small holes in enemy lines with armor but they had to follow it up with infantry very fast or like you said they could get caught in a pincer movement. This is where taking out the bridges and ferries and ammo dumps on the west side of the river the last few weeks are crucial because it vastly degraded the Russians ability to counterattack the bulge. Ideally you’d like to have steady movement across a broad front so that you disperse Russia’s numerical superiority in artillery out over a large area but if they can take advantage of the small breakout by following it up with more reserves it could speed up the entire operation to retake Kherson. I think the Ukrainians goal is to slowly and methodically choke the Russians on the west the river off with the end goal of them holding the entire western bank of the river by the time winter starts to hit which is really not far off but if I were them I would be even more urgent in my movements because the rains will come before winter and will make moving armor and heavy vehicles next to impossible. That would be a big win and bad loss for Russia.

I've never worn a mask in public unless entering an establishment which required it. I did not observe any lockdowns the entire time.
Are you one of those Texas needs to spend money on a standing military (army, navy and air force) because YEEHAW we want to be independent? Even Sam Houston himself was against the secession in the 1960's

Just imagine how Texas could have possibly even broken away from Mexico without the help of the USA. That never happened, it was funded and armed from outside.

Russia has resorted to buying 152 mm shells and Katyusha rockets from North Korea. If Russia is having issues with its artillery ammunition being old and improperly stored I can only imagine how old and and shitty North Korea’s stockpiles are. We are talking about a country that still has Mig-15s, Mig-17s and IL-28s in service.

Key Takeaways
The Ukrainian counteroffensive is tangibly degrading Russian logistics and administrative capabilities in occupied southern Ukraine.
Putin publicly praised DNR and LNR forces (and denigrated the Russian military) on September 5, likely to motivate proxy recruitment and reframe Russian coverage of the war.
Ukrainian military officials maintained their operational silence regarding the progress of the Ukrainian counteroffensive but reported on the further destruction of Russian ground lines of communication (GLOCs) in Central Kherson Oblast.
Russian forces conducted ground attacks east of Siversk, northeast and south of Bakhmut, and along the northwestern outskirts of Donetsk City.
Ukrainian special forces conducted a limited operation against a Russian FSB base in the Enerhodar area.
Power unit No. 6 of the ZNPP became disconnected from the Ukrainian power grid.
Russian authorities continue to seek unconventional sources of combat power and are increasingly turning to ill and infirm individuals.
Occupation authorities set a 1.25 ruble/1 hryvnia exchange rate in Zaporizhia Oblast in order to facilitate the economic integration of occupied Zaporizhia into the Russian Federation.

British Defence Intelligence
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 6 September 2022
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
Ukraine's offensive operations in the Kherson region continued over the weekend.
On 05 September 2022, the Odesa lournal reported 27 sorties by Russian uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the west bank of the Dnipro, compared to an average of 50 a day throughout August. On 21 August 2022, Ukrainian forces reported shooting down three Russian Orlan-10 tactical UAVs in a single day.
In recent years, Russian doctrine has given an increasingly prominent role for UAVs, particularly to spot targets for its artillery to strike. UAVs can be vulnerable to both kinetic effects - where they are directly shot down - and to electronic jamming.
In the face of combat losses, it is likely that Russia is struggling to maintain stocks of
UAVs, exacerbated by component shortages resulting from international sanctions. The limited availability of reconnaissance UAVs is likely degrading commanders' tactical situational awareness and increasingly hampering Russian operations.

Turning to the North Koreans for ammo...

WASHINGTON — Russia is buying millions of artillery shells and rockets from North Korea, according to newly declassified American intelligence, a sign that global sanctions have severely restricted its supply chains and forced Moscow to turn to pariah states for military supplies.
The disclosure comes days after Russia received initial shipments of Iranian-made drones, some of which American officials said had mechanical problems. U.S. government officials said Russia’s decision to turn to Iran, and now North Korea, was a sign that sanctions and export controls imposed by the United States and Europe were hurting Moscow’s ability to obtain supplies for its army.
The United States provided few details from the declassified intelligence about the exact weaponry, timing or size of the shipment, and there is no way yet to independently verify the sale. A U.S. official said that, beyond short-range rockets and artillery shells, Russia was expected to try
