Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu speaking for the first time about Russia’s war goals:
“Soon, there will be a Soviet Union again and we will again live in peace.”
You might want to tell the Russian Defense Minister that the cold war is over.

Of course this is not even close to being over. There will be the "troubles"over the next 25 or 50 years.

Update please
Why don't you update us on the progress your Russian army has made over the past 30 days....
Any closer to destroying the Ukrainian army? Any closer to capturing Kiev?
Seems like you guys need to wrap this up before more modern western weapons and jets arrive on the battlefield.
How exactly do you see this playing out? What other cards do you see Russia having to play here?

Unless Russia declares war which would allow general mobilization, the opposite is happening right before you very eyes

Russian propaganda announced the death of 53 Ukrainian prisoners, who were held in the penal colony in Olenivka, Donetsk oblast

Russia annexes eastern Ukraine’s resource rich areas, landlocked them and turns them in a rump state.
Idk if you knew this or not but the Ukrainian army was Pretty reformed and developed. It’s not some rag tag eastern militia army holding out from the Russians until Uncle Sam saves them.

Its inevitable.

I don't see this being won by Russia militarily. I see this not being lost by Russia militarily - which is all they may need to do.
I think it's becoming more apparent that France and Germany are going to Neville Chamberlain Ukraine in the back. Ukraine is going to be pressured to cut a deal with "assurances" Russia won't go any farther. Tell Ukraine to ask Edvard Benes' ghost how these assurances work out...

And you think Russia can establish this in perpetuity? Like with Ukrainian missiles plinking at them every day? And Reaper drones overhead painting targets? And F-16 flying sorties? And hundreds of thousands of armed insurgents roaming the countryside? Not to mention a total boycott of all Western nations buying commodities from them? And an arms and technology embargo? And thousands of Russian professionals fleeing the country every year?
You think that's a plausible, sustainable, positive outcome for Russia?

Update please
1. The Russian offensive in the Donbas appears to grinding to a halt.
2. The main bridge capable of handling heavy equipment and connecting Kherson to the eastern bank of the Dnieper river have become useless and Russia has been forced to build pontoon bridges next to it. These pontoon bridges are in range of the Ukrainian HIMARs and conventional artillery as well. It probably won't be long before these pontoon bridges are taken out as well.
3. Ukraine is making slow and steady progress toward Kherson.
4. Russia lost a major ammunition dump last night
they just lost another one.
5. In the last hour or so, unconfirmed rumors have started circulating stating that the Ukrainian forces broke through the main Russian defense line around Kherson this afternoon, and the Ukies are inside Kherson itself. No hard evidence yet but there was shelling landing in the city and now something in Kherson is burning.

So they will but how many of them are on Putin's payroll, especially German politicians.
That being said, Poland is coming out the big winner here in the end. It is supplying way more weapons per GDP than any other nation. It is getting US weapons to replace they crappy Russian made, and Polish knock offs. It's gas from Russia had been cut off for a few months and yet it hasn't backed down. It is housing way more refugees than anyone else. Polish companies will be first considered for reconstructing Ukraine. In fact, I have already had inquiries for Polish immigrants in international trade for processing plants and equipment, from fertilizer manufacturing to food processing.

Russian military is confiscating pool toys, inflatable mattresses and blowup dolls west of Kherson to retreat across the river on.

First ship to leave Odessa with grain is Turkish. Shrewd move by Erdogan, Turkish merchant ships get the grain and Russia dare not attack them due Turkey will cut off the Black Sea for all Russian exports including a major oil export terminal

Are Putin's soy boys on here willing to donate their used blowup dolls?
Posted on 7/29/22 at 3:33 pm to CitizenK
The Turks are making out like bandits with this war - while Russia's imports are down, they're way up from Turkey. Turkey's selling Bayraktars like hotcakes, getting new weapons systems and shaking down Sweden and Finland in the NATO accession process. But their central bank predicted 60% inflation by the end of the year, so Erdogan still needs to watch his back.

If it's true about Kherson, the appeasers have missed their chance.
