Russia doctrine calls for the use of a lot of artillery. So Russia definitely has plenty of artillery pieces available to stop a Ukrainian advance. The problem for Russia is that a lot artillery pieces require a f**k ton of shells to which means it had to keep ammo dumps relatively close to its artillery in order to pound stop any Ukrainian advance. Unfortunately for the Russians, Russian convention and rocket artillery have a max firing range of 55 km. However, the HIMARs that Ukraine has recently received has an effective firing range of 92 km. So Ukraine keep its HIMARs out of the range of Russian artillery and underneath their own SAMs and destroy Russia's ammo supplies. Without ammo, Russia's artillery is just scrap metal with military paint on it waiting for the Ukrainian farmers to haul 'em off.

Excellent post. Anybody who wants to see the absurd militarism of of the Russian church and extent to which it's a tool of the Putin regime should check out the cathedral they consecrated a couple of years ago in Moscow. It looks relatively normal beautiful orthodox church outside...

The Nazis formed their own state sponsored Reich Church for political indoctrination/propaganda. They wanted it to replace the Protestant and Catholic Church in Germany. Didn't really go over well with the German people. What Putin has done to the Russian Orthodox Church reminds me of this. It is disgraceful. He didn't create a new one but he basically bought/converted the existing. It is basically a propaganda/political wing of Putin's government.How that church is being used now is unbelievable. I wonder what he is paying them in return? I hear from alot of Putin fans: "Oh Putin is a Christian". " Putin loves and supports the Russian Orthodox Christian Church" If they did any research into how and what that church is being used for now it might shock some people.

I'm as convinced as ever that masses of people fall for propaganda which is depressing. It's surprising but propaganda is as effective now as it was in the Cold War.
