General Alexander Dvornikov was replaced by General Gennady Zhidko, former commander of the Eastern Military District and Russia’s deputy defense minister.
Dvornikov was oft referred to as the Butcher of Syria, and was regarded as the 'get serious and end this' candidate. He lasted about two months in command, before his dismissal.
Significant, if the Russians are as happy with their progress as several of the pro Russian guys here are; then why did they change generals????!

If Russia does not succeed in Ukraine, Ukraine in the long range will benefit greatly.
But would they be better off had Russia simply never invaded and reduced 20% or more of their country to ruin?

Let's see where we are 25 or 50 years from now.
Fair enough and I’m in. That also gives another 25 years for our liberation of Iraq to totally redeemed itself and I want a thank you when vibrant Baghdad is awarded the 2052 Olympics.

Well thats interesting
A YouTube European Boeing 737 pilot said this will happen. Without the correct spare parts they can't get airworthiness certification. Everything Russia gets is cannibalized from other sources.

The Ukrainians haven't given up Severodonetsk yet.

Severodonetsk Frontline Update- Ukrainian forces have counterattacked and recaptured at least 20 percent of lost territory, the town of Met'olkine was liberated(East Of Sevrodonetsk). Heavy battles continue in the centre reportedly near the "Jazz Mall".

The heaviest fighting is happening around the centre of the city.

Russian forces took heavy losses around the western Industrial complex, Ukrainian forces are attempting to push the Russians east away for the complex. A big contingent of Foreign Legion units are operating around the industrial complex.

Summary: This Ukrainian counter attack likely caught Russians of guard, however I don't think this is an attempt to retake the whole city just to inflict as many losses on Russians as they can. To render their BTGs combat ineffective and unable to move past Severodonetsk.

Putin Fires 5 More Generals
“Pravda, citing Russian media organization RBC, noted that a standard employee reshuffle procedure accounted for why the top officials had been fired.”

It's not just the river but the defenders are on high ground and able to see with their own eyes anything trying to cross it and trudge uphill immediately

Trent Telenko says if the Russians can't hang on to Sieverodonetsk it's their culmination and all of occupied Ukraine is back in play.

This is the part that really pisses me off about the poli contingent in here. The people in here don't give a single frick about the Ukrainian government. We know it's corrupt. We are rooting for Ukraine because of the maimed and killed civilians in these photos that were just trying to eke out a living, until a fricking POS dictator decided it was time to cement his legacy and all these dead innocents had to pay for it.

Twitter thread, it discusses the murders of Russian POWs by Ukrainians.

The Ukrainians have a policy of terror shelling civil targets in the Donbas.
Poroshenko explained in a speech that they would prevent the people of the Donbas from having normal lives. We’ll make them hide in their basements. They’ve kept it up for eight years now.

Per today’s ISW report, the UK sees Russia gaining full control of Luhansk in the next couple weeks, but otherwise believes Russian advances have culminated.
“In a retrospective on the 100th day of the war, the UK Defense Ministry stated that Russian forces will likely establish control over Luhansk Oblast in the next two weeks, though only at significant further cost. The UK Defense Ministry further noted that Russian forces on all other axes have gone over to defensive operations to concentrate all available forces in Severodonetsk, and stated Russia will need to commit sizable investment of manpower and equipment—that it will be unable to generate quickly, if at all—to advance beyond Luhansk Oblast.”

I haven’t seen it discussed yet
Commanders usually get fired for making a mistake, or for not being aggressive enough
