I use 1Password as well. Easy to set up shared vaults for accounts I want my wife to have access to for paying bills and junk and I can use for multi-factor tokens and keeping recovery codes and all kinds of stuff.

Might be a little over the top, but I've also started using it to randomly generate answers to password reset questions that are easily discoverable like mother's maiden name and what have you. So instead of her maiden name, it's just another randomly generated password.

And yes, if 1Password ever gets popped or tanks, I'm ultra boned. I have accepted this risk.

They got hacked and had a big security breach at the beginning of last year. Use at your own caution. I'm a fan of Bitwarden myself.

Bitwarden surpasses them all. Fully encrypted, great functionality.

So if there is some type of system “take down” of LastPass and you are relying on those generated complex passwords made by the app, and you don’t have them in a secondary location, what will you do? I use LastPass, but I make my own complex passwords using letters, numbers and special characters that I can recall in the event of a severe situation. That way I can still access my sites. I also make a hard copy list of my passwords and keep them in a safe.

Every site you access also has a change password feature.

If LastPass fails, Just change your password. You never have to memorize anything.

Used to use LastPass but then they started charging for multiple devices. Then they got hacked. Swapped to BitWarden a couple years ago and haven't looked back.

IIRC, the joke was on the hackers - everything they got was encrypted anyway.

WRT to LastPass, I use it. I find it more useful than Apple Keychain because it works in more places, but it seems that Apple is trying to force a switch to Keychain, sometimes they step on each other with autofills.

For really critical things, like LastPass access, I use a Yubikey too. Better than cellphone MFA.

I forgot to mention that in the decade or so I've used Lastpass, I've always had it paired with a Yubikey. I've never had anything hacked, but I don't think I had anything hacked before I started to use a vault with 2fa. I regularly do the security checkup and change old passwords, and I have my email addresses monitored through Lastpass so if my email address is associated with any account that has been breached, they send me a heads up and I can change my password for that account if I choose to do so.

Does software exist that can guarantee not getting hacked? Nope!

Does anybody here use this? Is it simple. I drive myself nuts managing passwords for everything I got

I use Keeper. But dont just use the free one. When you change phones you will want to kill yourself if you have a hundred PW accounts.

The reason I never tried one of these services is because I log into accounts on several different computers.

What happens if I download this app to my phone but then I need to go on one of those sites on my laptop or a company computer?

Is there a solution to this ?

That’s the use case where they shine the most. You can access them via mobile app or web browser plug-in. I use a minimum of 3 different devices a day and I have it on all of my devices.

Any of these services that rely on a master password are vulnerable

Sphincter scan is the answer.

Say no to lastpass! Terrible company. Handled the breach horribly and security decisions before the breach were equally awful.

Not so fast… people’s vaults have been cracked and will continue to be more frequently as time goes on and computing power gets cheaper. I doubt many people spent days changing hundreds of passwords.

Experts Fear Crooks are Cracking Keys Stolen in LastPass Breach

1Password browser extension not quite as user friendly as LP (for good security minded reasons) but it works well and is a really well run product with security first.

I am pretty sure Keeper can be used/accessed on multiple devices. I just dont need to do that.
