Las Vegas Metro Police just received 10 Tesla Cybertrucks for patrol and SWAT use—thanks to a donor. Sheriff McMahill says the bulletproof trucks will keep officers safe and serve as a recruitment tool.

This gives LVMPD the largest fleet of Tesla police trucks in the U.S.

The department is also ramping up drone surveillance and rolling out new de-escalation training to reduce officer-involved shootings.

I would put money on the donor being Tesla. They’ve been tight with Nevada and specifically Vegas for a while.

thanks to a donor.

Somebody thought they'd move a bunch of them at a marked up price and is now having to donate them as a tax write off to not lose their arse.

Yeah, missed that part. Donations are no issue for me, other than the long term upkeep.

Opened this thread and BRPD just pulled up to my front door. Their soccer mom units look like shite compared to the cyber trucks.

Would anyone be shocked to find that the "donation" came with a contract that says if the trucks ain't maintained according to manufacturers recommendation's and by the manufacturer that the recipient of the donation owes the manufacturer the full retail value of the truck at the time of donation AND that the manufacturer's maintenance program will cost the recipient more than the vehicles would cost to buy and maintain?

Apparently some of the material they are being wrapped in is causing some kind of problem with the factory finish. High carbon adhesive and stainless in a corrosive environment....the world....ain't a good mix mayhap?

I highly doubt Tesla is trying to have some gotcha with anyone in Nevada considering their connections for Giga 1 in Sparks and the Las Vegas convention tunnel projects.

There's not really a ton of maintenance needed on these. It's basically tires, washer fluid and lubing up the brakes every now and then.
