Chicken or rat snake would be my guess. Don't think any others native to Louisiana approach that length.

Article says Rat Snake. I don't see how that isn't a Python of some type. It's 12 feet long.

I don’t think chicken or rat snakes get anywhere near that big.

Never heard of a rat snake that large.

Can't tell. They seemed to have used a potato as a camera.

Then it’s twice as big as any rat snake is supposed to grow. That thing is massive.

Looks like a live action remake of “Jungle Book”.

Would a python survive freezing temperatures? I know Louisiana isn't exactly Minneapolis, but it does get below freezing with some frequency there.

they don't. those people are too stupid to realize its a python that got out or was released on purpose.

In that case, kill the fricker. And light the whole swamp on fire for good measure.

Florida had a bad freeze about 15 years ago. It killed a lot of pythons, but some managed to survive. So, maybe?

It would help if there was some scale so you could see the true size of the trees. Snake looks too large to be a rat snake.
