I can agree that I don't think the pattern looks exactly like a python so that gives me pause, so maybe the video is deceiving and their story isn't as accurate as reported. it looks really really big though.

but if that thing is 12 feet long then no way its a rat/chicken snake and I've seen some big ones like you pictured.

Without a doubt not a rat snake. They don't get girth like that. A python would be my guess on the video.

That's a Rat Snake. Biggest one i've ever seen. Its not 12 feet though. Looks around 8 or 9 feet. Those suckers can get big. They're a constrictor too.

I’m an not at all a snake expert, but we have a local company that does snake removal etc. I sent the video to him and he said 100% that’s a Rat Snake. TIFWIW.

Chicken or rat snake would be my guess. Don't think any others native to Louisiana approach that length.

Neither do rat snakes.

So the shitty camera work made it look larger than it actually is? I've never heard of a rat snake that big before.

6-7 feet were the largest I've ever seen or heard of.

They are also terrified of anything larger than a bobcat.

I'm convinced that the camera work makes the snake appear larger than it is. Probably something a few of you are familiar with.

Yeah, I don’t think that snake was 12’. Really no way to know without ground checking it.

If I saw that thing on my property I would do 2 things. The second one would be grabbing my shotgun.

You nancy's can go change your panties.. That's a 6 or 7 foot long rat snake. Video perspective makes it look longer.
