I never thought I'd actually consider leaving this region, but assholes like him and jbe are making it difficult.
Wife and I are generations-deep New Orleanians. We moved away in 1984. It was hard because nowhere was like NOLA. We were homesick. But the years have gone on and things change. NOLA and LA have become happy memories, but those places, people and times no longer exist and cannot be recreated. What is there now is a good meal (always), but also worse corruption, crime, ignorance and incompetence than when we left. Whenever we return to visit family, we're glad to see everybody. But as we look around at what else is there, we are also glad to leave again. Sad, but we will not move back into that pit.

It would be a lot better if someone just did that to you. Then we wouldn't be subjected to your idiocy.

You are a wise person. Thanks for bringing sense to a senseless and endless exercise in futility.

Not really, Moon, his Dad was a bigger POS. Really. New Orleans started it's down fall under his watch.

Moon is responsible for the New Orleans black middle class picking up and moving to Atlanta.

And if anyone here do not think the Landrieu's are partially black they can't see. There is coffee in that cream.

This. I had thought I heard they wanted to keep them in the city. Mitch has no idea what he is doing as usual.

That perfectly describes how I feel. I still enjoy seeing friends / family there but each time that I go back, I'm a bit excited to be back and see everyone for a day or two. Then, it quickly gives way to..."yeah, now I'm remembering why I left." I used to go back 3 - 4 times a year...then it fell to 1 - 2 times a year. Now, it's once every couple of years. It's almost gotten to the point now where I say, "if ya'll wanna see me...planes also fly west."

I was on your side until this comment. It revealed who you are. You've conveniently left out the Asians, Irish, Eastern Europeans, Italians, Mexicans, Indians, Austrians, and poor Dutch and British.

They would have just gotten the labor from somewhere else.

What we SHOULD have done is, when the Civil War was done, shipped them all back.
