I was going to say I knew exactly who your broker is, but he's the lone broker I've found that pays on time. But out of Lafayette... sounds like you worked for a gentleman out of Chalmette having to wait 2+ months to get paid

Had a friend who was an RPL and was leading a crew in Woodville, MS way back 10 years ago....maybe longer and he was constantly fighting with the guy out of Chalmette to pay. Was constantly on the verge of being evicted from his Hotel room in Natchez because he got paid when the broker got paid.

I asked why he would stay on? He said that he was owed close to 20K by the guy and if he left there was no guarantee that he would see any of it that decade

Landman is a "loose" title for the show.

I'll watch because I like the premise and the actors.

What was up w Billy Bob trying to look like Tommy Lee during the commercial spots?

He's more of the fixer type of landmen. They do exist but not near as wild as Billy Bob's character. I did know of one though that had a few of Winkler Cty landowners and oil people after him because he worked for Chesapeake.....Chesapeake would screw people so hard.

Most company landmen dress nicer and are pretty professional guys from what I understand.

Billy Bob Thornton seems like an absolute weirdo in real life, but as an actor, he always plays a good character.

He is so natural in the way he rattles off dialog it's hard to believe it's all scripted.
Like the way he told the bartender "how'd you say that with a straight face" when asking about change was so damned funny but dead-on accurate of how a Southerner would respond to shite like that from a server.

Who didn't know that Nick Saban had retired until Coach Gaines told him.

Speaking of which, how many times did Billy Bob get to say Permian?

Before the awkward bullshite the exchange about Saban was hilarious. I'm not sure most picked up on the likelihood that Dakota is full of shite and didn’t get into Alabama. I gathered that his contact with Saban was from his Junior year before not having the grades to get in Alabama.

Got a good laugh at the end when Billy Bob told his daughter “frick Alabama” and she replied “yeah, frick em!”

The explosion scene was dumb as frick. Hitting the wrench was retarded, should’ve used the bigger pipe wrench or a cheater pipe from the start. And also, I think the part of the wrench he was hitting is aluminum anyway, which doesn’t spark.

Im definitely not an oil field expert, i was under the impression that jack pumps were on low pressure wells that didn’t flow. Thus if the well is not flowing how does it have pressure to blow out?

Totally agree with your point about the wrench. I also doubt a hammer union that wasn’t leaking to begin with would come totally off just from indirect hammering.
