The thing I find most amazing about that bridge is that it is basically flat, no intersections and has a reasonable speed limit but people still constantly get in wrecks on it.

You’re forgetting about left-lane campers and jacked rigs or sports cars zipping in and out of traffic. These things cause accidents no matter how safe a roadway is.

It would seem that way to a logical person.

I’m Not forgetting about them. That’s the cause of lost accidents on the bridge.
Again it should be a rare event but for the assholes.

Do they recover vehicles that go over the railing? Or do they just leave them sitting in the mud next to the causeway?

Not sure. It is fairly deep in some areas. Not sure if there are sunken cars at the bottoms of the lake or not.

That's not a good comparison at all. The twin spans are much taller and have three lanes and a shoulder.
Also once side was built on an emergency schedule so that added cost as well.

I do not know their success rate, but they do make an effort to recover the vehicles. They generally try to do it in the middle of the next day to minimize traffic interruptions. I have seen the set-up a few times, but never seen them actually pulling a car out.

This is what I’ve heard too. Just a bunch of vehicles sitting in the mud and left to the lake. Crazy to think of the machinery down there

If and when they finish all of the projects, I believe, by law, it could be turned over to the State, just as the crescent city connection was. If that happens, all those baws can’t line their pockets.
Also, how in the hell did the Causeway commission not save anything for future projects? If you look at the accounting books, there’s an undisclosed fund that always seems to match the revenue left over after the annual expenditures. Where would that money go?
Crooks. They pay those cops next to nothing. And, they don’t collect a single dime from the tickets written. All goes to Jefferson or St Tammany.

it's 10' deep. I would think they recovered 90% of the cars from there.

If it's in La and called a commission, they going out to eat once a week. The superdome commission exists for certain people to get free event tickets.

$5 per toll is outrageous. I’d love to see where that money is going.
