Got mine back and SF lowballed tf out of us. Needless to say, there will be quite a bit of supplemental claims once i get a contractor chosen.

They came though with personal property claims. From clothes to TVs. I put why I claimed them and they paid me for it. They left out all my outdoor patio stuff, but I think that was my fault. I didn’t enter the information correctly.

Next on the list is Additional Living Expenses.

My adjuster has been really good with me. I’ve called him a couple times and all he’s done was complain about the desk adjuster not wanting to do her job like she’s supposed to. He’s got clearance to bypass her and he’s been super helpful as far as getting paid for extra money we spent for a month. He could only pay so much for damage. Most everything is listed correctly, it’s just that the computer program they enter all the information into doesn’t estimate the right material. They estimate the dollar store brand material and tell you that’s good enough.

You guys dealing with one contractor to do all your work?

I got one contractor telling me he will deal with the insurance if I give him ALL my work. I wanted them to do everything but the flooring. He said he’d do the job, but I’d have to negotiate with the insurance.

I have another coming Thursday just to get another estimate and see what they offer as well. I’m looking for quality more than anything.

My gc has everything but demo, safeco hired remedeatiion and they are doing demo. It’s a direct bill to insurance with less hassle for me.
Was also a cc’d on initial check but supplementals will take care of that.

Looking that way. Family member of extended family member. Started roof yesterday, putting together bid for everything else outside of restoration and associated demo. Has been great to deal with, so if you’re still on the hunt, I’ll send his info if you give your email.

My desk adjuster with SF told me that all went towards my deductible.

One of my best friends growing up is a very reputable guy in the area. All my family and friends will use nobody but him. I talked with him last week and he had something like 50 houses already booked. If you want I can put you in contact with him.

I just got mine back at my office. Since it's downtown, I'm hoping there won't be any interruptions.

I need to get back to work.

That doesn’t make any sense. I guess you’ll get that money on the back end once your contractor eats up your deductible (if he’s helping you out) and your recoverable depreciation ?

Sounds like more and more people are receiving their initial estimates and settlement checks. Now begins the arduous process of supplementals. Those with experience, any advice?

Specifically, I’m noticing things either minimized or left off of my itemized estimate completely versus what the adjuster discussed during walk through. When I ask the adjuster how to proceed with things I feel are erroneous, he basically says get with your contractor and we’ll review as part of your supplemental claim.

Already requiring diagnostics on air handler and only replacing two sections of ductwork after explicitly telling me in person air handler and ductwork throughout would be replaced. Been running the hell out of air handler in a gutted house implicitly per his statements.

In the same boat. Got my mailbox back up and actually received the hard copy check yesterday. So that's the starting number for Dwelling and Other Structures.

My insurance company has two approaches for Personal Property. Early on, they asked me to line item everything in the Exactimate spreadsheet. I didn't move on that quickly. So next they reached out and told me about the Expedited Claims Process. They judge the damage to the room (25, 50, 75, 100%), and give you an average payout for that room. I'm pretty sure I will come out ahead with that approach, so something for yall to consider.

Hope to have a full contractor bid by end of day today, and maybe have a framing crew at our house end of this week. Just looking to hand the responsibility to someone else. Tired of messing with this house and seeing it continue to get wet. Weather looks pretty good for next two weeks.

I know that feeling all too well. Got the last of our stuff out yesterday. New roof/fascia/soffits were completed Friday. Awaiting schedule of demo/mold remediation and GC bid.

Saints via antenna and gumbo on stove, don’t care that it’s too hot out. I needed a day off.

Probably a good idea to gas up today given many pumps are still down.

Very glad to hear that. SF is balking at my fence as well -- cedar, 8', and lots of it

As an agent for 20 years, i have never seen companies hold the purse strings like they have with this storm. The Demetec companies are almost all LL and it's my guess they have zero reinsurance behind them, thus the tight purse strings and others are following suit.
The commercial property carriers are also LL and have yet to pay any of my clients. Most have only had promises to forward checks to "get them started" on rebuild.
We do have a Private Client insured that's sitting in a $30k per month shell beach drive rental.

this is really fricking shite up re: office space

they can't get their buildings fixed so there is an insane glut of office space demand. eventually that's going to translate into jobs

Esquire, not arguing with you just stating the facts as I get them. Insurance companies are making their clients do their work for them with Laura. Sucks donkey balls for sure but erryone needs to saddle up and pester them into paying up like they promised.

Every estimate I get that’s above what the insurance company projected I’ve emailed them and they immediately agreed. Don’t take what they gave you, send those estimates in
