We still have no power out in my area but the internet was working almost immediately after the storm. Strange how these things work.
I gather a lot of the internet outages were/are due to power crews severing cable lines as they made way for new power lines.

Thank you for posting this stuff here. Stout I’m scheduled for 10-28.
Suddenlink trucks were on Ham Reid and Nelson throughout today.
Hope they go under in this market. We were scheduled for an install last Friday, wife called during our install window and was told it was cancelled for Oct.13 due to weather and safety. No call, no notice.

Still no starting number from Allstate on dwelling... 25 days since the field adjuster visited our house. I've been calling every other day to try to push it along. Any luck for yall?

NWS Lake Charles
@NWSLakeCharles
The NWS Lake Charles has found a storm surge high water mark from #HurricaneLaura of 17.2 feet above ground level (AGL) at Rutherford Beach, LA. The level was acquired from the structures left standing in the background. #lawx

I went to Rutherford and Grand Chenier last week and I was estimating a 15 to 20 foot storm surge in that area. There's about a 4 foot yellow sand dune from Rutherford into Cameron now that you can see from the highway. That wasn't there before.

I have my crews back together and we are starting to dive into repair and restoration work. So far the only insurance company I have dealt with worth a damn has been USAA. The others are low balling everyone or just hard to get a hold of.

Whenever I hear back from state farm, I'll be contacting you. Our field adjustor was here 2 weeks ago today

Yea let me know. I am seeing so many contractors out there screwing people. Had one guy yesterday call 4 companies and none of them would give him a price because they wanted to go straight through his insurance company so they could supplement his policy to death. I am not doing that.

LCMH is in the process of notifying staff members of some mass layoffs. Doesn't affect us, thankfully, but keep those folks in your thoughts/prayers. I know some people who have been there 20+ years who are devestated.

My wife said a doctor told her ~25% of hospital staff.

That is awful. How much more weight can you put on someone’s shoulders till they break down. Best of luck to them and hopefully something good will come their way very soon.

I legit had someone try to give me a $100 for getting his job bumped up. I was already there and halfway done with the install when he walked up and offered me the dinero. I declined because that’s obviously verboten, but it was a helluva lot more than they usually try to give me. I think $20 was my highest attempted “tip” before that.
I’ll try to browse through here and answer some of the questions re availability, but, I can’t stress this enough: If you are scheduled for a Lily, Inc. install and see one of our trucks in the neighborhood, stop the tech and give him (or her, I guess) your address, phone number, and account number (if you have it). We have a dedicated support team set up exclusively to handle “walk ups.”

I was told that they do intend to hire them back once their departments are fully operational. No timeline given. I pray it’s soon!
