That place is going to get someone killed.
I saw some people post what it's like to live next door to that place and I would be so pissed

Basically how Oak Park went to total shite.

I recently had to detour down 5th Ave and there are two more apartment complexes being built. I don’t know if they are government subsidized or not, but along with all the other apartments already there, it is a continuous war zone.

A year gap in between state titles is too much for the Barbe faithful to handle. They have to resort to violence now.

Really? What is your perception of all that residential housing has been is currently being constructed north of Broad Street, namely Mill, Hodges, Bilbo, and Division Streets.

5th Ave from 12th street to Emerald Park Apartments is legit bad.

Surprisingly, New Orleans didn't have a murder this past week (at least reported). It's been a quiet start to the year (minus the terrorist attack).

I would not want to own one of those houses on Hodges and Mill, due to property value decreasing, but it's likely those apartments will be more annoyance than dangerous (like 5th Avenue).
They also tore down Brownsville and are building new complexes there that may help clean up that area a bit.

Nola has been pretty good on the decrease in murder over the past 6 months. I think I heard that 2024 was the best they’ve done in several years.

It’s fascinating how you have that strip of ghetto that follows 5th avenue across town from north to south. I know someone who owns a business on McNeese not far from 5th avenue and they see all sorts of sketchy behavior on the store cameras after dark.

Several friends who are LCPD. They claim the amount of crime that goes on in LC and at the Casinos that goes unreported is astounding.

I've been in LC for about six and a half years now, and I like it here. But the problem I noticed, which is probably the same issue as most cities, is that even if you're in a decent neighborhood, theres a ghetto or trailer park not far from you. When we first moved to the area, we had a nice house in a nice large neighborhood outside the city. No issues out there. But since my divorce, I've had to settle for apartment living, and even living off of Country Club, there were still incidences close by. I've bought a house off of Nelson that I'm moving into next month, and its in a okay location, not great, but the hurricane really fricked the housing market here. Even the houses in the ghetto are all completely remodeled and they want $200k+ for them. I got lucky to find the house I did for the price I did, but its by no means Greywood
Half the neighborhood on my end are mostly small starter home type houses, but on the next street there are some duplexes that I certainly wish were not there.

Prostitution and drugs, which are nothingburgers as they're contained to the casino.

This is an unrelated topic, but the mention of Sunset Acres brought back memories of my childhood in the late sixties and early seventies. Lots of my friends lived there, and almost every home in Sunset Acres was three bed, one bath, and the average size seems to be about 1,000 square feet. Most of those homes had at least a few children in them. People claim that it's much harder to get by now, which may be true, but people also have higher expectations. Very few of my childhood friends had their own bedroom. .

Watching KPLC nightly it’s becoming more of an occurrence with the new cast leading off with a crime like this. It’s changed just in the last few years. Hopefully this gets fixed soon. LC has always been a blue collar industry driven city with low crime.
