Come on man. Use common sense. Anybody who is going to go through a drive thru daiquiri lane is nine times out of ten going to put the straw in the cup and drive off and start drinking.
Quit cherry picking bits and pieces for the art of being contrary and debating. I know that's your hobby on here.

Prosecutors and police do. In this case, it isn't even clear if a law is being violated. Hence why our AG was asked to send an opinion on the legality of these stores.

dui checkpoints are a different topic. The federal government thinks it's OK to violate your 4th amendment rights, and people in this thread are OK with states not having as many rights as they once did.
I didn't say anything about DUI checkpoints. Would you support inspection sticker checkpoints and radar guns along your commute everyday? You don't get to pick and choose enforcement, remember?

B/c arresting people for drug crimes is a cash cow that often funds their departments.
It's why they fricking loooooove civil forfeiture and will always claim you are using everything you own to traffic drugs.
Is there a way to access the books for these sheriff depts? Is that a matter of public record?

Isnt that why we are all here?

FWIW...did you know it's legal to buy a daiquiri thru the drive thru but you're not allowed to buy a mixed drink thru the drive thru? Talk about some backwards arse shite
I tried to order a screwdriver from a Daiquiri shop thru the drive thru and she told me I had to do inside to get it.......
Also, what about these roadside Bloody Mary bars..like Franks and Spahrs......??

I don't like them, but I don't see where either one violates my 4th amendment rights. When I get pulled over for speeding I don't get on a message board and cry about how unjust it was for the police to pull me over and give me a ticket.

It's because the parish/county prisons receive daily stipends from the state for every prisoner they house. The stipend exceeds the actual cost to house each prisoner, leading to large profits for the prison. Filling the prison with non-violent offenders and getting paid for it is exactly what they don't want to stop.
Bingo

So you'd be fine with that, right? As long as the government undertakes action that is not illegal, it's all good in your book?

He was manufacturing his own CBD, which is illegal in Louisiana. That's where they got him. There's another CBD shop that's been open since January in Lafayette and they've had no problems. He probably had too much THC in his stuff.
There was another "CBD" shop in Abbeville that got busted for the same thing not too long ago

So you get what I'm saying. This state is so fricking liberal when it comes to drinking and getting drunk. But anything involving weed, it turns into straight up reefer madness (like another poster said). They hear the word marijuana, and they think this:
I think it's a combination of that, and it's also another point of somebody bringing up the revenue pouring in by arresting. It's the lowest of low fruits. It makes them look like they're really doing their job. They're "cleaning up the streets" by taking those "atrocious CBD store owners selling illegal products that get people high and eventually lead to opiate addiction". (I'm not saying that, but I'm saying they probably operate off a similar narrative.)

Yes as long as the government doesn't do anything illegal to enforce the law I'm OK with the government enforcing the law.

You know what's even worse.....is those drive thru Smoke em Go shops....where you can buy a carton of cigarettes and a six pack of tall boys without even getting out of your vehicle.

Thanks for the reminder, I need to go pick up my legal heroin — I mean OxyContin.

Oh, don't get me started on ole Frannie.
He's wasting time and pushing legislation right now to rid Louisiana of the scourge of people advertising cauliflower rice because he claims that people think it's rice. That jackass also wants to ban calling almond milk that because people might confuse it with cow milk.
Tackling those controversial issues that really matter.

Leaving Louisiana as quickly as I can. The state is completely backwards, broke, mismanaged, no opportunities unless you want to swing a chain or break your back for 10 years then get on disability, no value on education, backlogged prison system, letting violent felons walk free, incredibly low wages despite being a middle-of-the-road cost of living...
I could go on and on. Getting my family out of here so my son has a chance to not be a meth addict.

The farm bill punted it to the states to manage, much like alcohol. The FDA is also now getting involved on the products that are edible (gummies, drinks, etc.).
I would expect it will be largely legal across the US but each state has to build their framework first. It’s a process like any other big change in stance.
