treat their employees on a different level than Slave-Mart

This. They pay their employees very well and offer them great benefits. The employees actually look happy to work there.

I can't wait to try the stuff everybody talks about. It's close enough to me that I hope to be able to zip over there during off peak hours (if such a thing exists).

It's going to be a madhouse for like 3 months after opening.

It's worth it if you like local beer.

Their return policy is pretty sweat, but I think lots of people abuse it.

I bought a motion sensing trashcan from Costco specifically for the return policy. Wanted a trashcan that I didnt jave to touch to open and I didnt want some plastic POS. Reviews online said the model I wanted was great, but that the motor burns out after a year or so. Costco had it so I bought knowing I'd just exchange that thing as soon as the motor burned out. I love Costco. I didnt buy a trashcan. I bought a lifetime subscription for trashcans.

I have never seen it not be a madhouse. I work from home so I can go at anytime and I have yet to see it not congested with shopping carts. The friggin gas pumps are always packed as well. There is another location 8 miles away, so you know the draw.

Exactly. They want full 40 an hour week people and with benefits. Their competition is so far behind.

The concept of a warehouse store is weird, but Costco knocks it out of the park. I mean they have one in the hood in NOLA, and it is doing really well.

Same. I do most of my shopping during the day during the weekday at Costco. Parking lot always packed whenever I go.

Same...the other locations are maybe 10 miles away in different directions...those will be packed as well. I can only imagine how crazy a Costco will be if there is only one in the city.

Meh, some of that is overstated. They start at around $12/hour, which is what most retail starts at around here. They have long term employees though which makes the average wage a little higher.

They treat their employees better than Walmart/Sam's, hence the longterm employees.

But at 40 hours a week. Health benefits, instead of 32 hours of part-time help.

And I think they get a good employee discount as well. Coworker of mine...her mom works there and loves it.

Probably, I know some people that work there and it's a standard retail job but doesn't have outrageous opening/closing times and they do give 40 hour weeks. You have to stay there a long time to make decent money though.

Much better, pay and benefits. Costco is really an amazing company. Of course the only thing they really care about is shareholder return, but they really know what they are doing. In terms of customer experience and shareholder return.

Yeah, they have pretty standard benefits but can get 40 hours if they want. Supervisors can make over $20/hour, but cashiers etc make $12-$15.

There's a Petco in town that actually pays more than Costco. It's taking some of their employees.

I love Costco though and it's my favorite place to shop

You will have more ketchup and mustard than you will ever be able to consume when it's all said and done.
