Was Fat Albert's mentioned?

They’re talking about the Academy at I-10.
I lived across the River from 7 acre lake, but you know that. It’s in the middle of Beaullieu Subdivision now.

Witnessed several 8-10 lbs bass caught in that lake around 1988. Before RR was developed, saw quite a few deer crossing Amb Caffery and Kaliste Saloom Rd

the classic la fonda regular response. For some reason the people that go there like this. Like they're so cool and have to know the exclusive off menu items. The fried chicked ain't that good. The Don Briggs isn't that good either. Considering it's just a ribeye covered in cheese, that should be incredible, it's average. Waiter style just means burnt. The ziggy wings are probably my favorite "off the menu item"
Wait... I got more! My MIL decided it was sophisticated to order margaritas with “light salt”, instead of with or without. Do you really think the bartender is going to salt the rim any differently? I mean brush some off, or don’t lick the rim.
Then, when getting 1/2 and 1/2’s (margarita/sangria) got old, people started ordering “margaritas with a “dot” “. That means a frozen marg with a spurt of sangria.
A couple of years ago my FIL was so happy to introduce a new LaFonda lent special to us. He said, “You’ll never believe this new dish La Fonda has... wait for it... fish... TACOS!”
I was like, ummm they have had this, like forever, everywhere in Mexico, and most places in the US for 30 years.

And I love La Fonda! It’s just it is what it is...
I like the Rita’s. The steaks are good. I like the rabbit. Setups are good if you grew up on it. Guacamole is usually good. Carne Asada and chicken Tap are fine.
Stephanie says thank you!

That’s about when I graduated HS, and moved to BR.

To think those girls are probably someone's mom now.

Most definetly. Either moms or lesbos most likely.
I saw some crazy shite in there. I really dont think anyone could get away with anything like that these days with camera phones and social media

This is so accurate.

My wife's grandmother when asking about any other Mexican food always asks "is it good like Lafonda?". Its the benchmark for the older Lafayette crowd.
And fwiw, I like Lafonda

where is that compared to Wilderness Gun Club. My son used to shoot skeet out there with the 4-h program

LaFondas is just a tradition, place to see and be seen
Besides the rabbit and the wings, there is a fried chicken special for lunch on saturdays that is the best
Few more things
Service industry discounts at Pete’s from 12-2 AM was boss
Colors teen club
Sunday nights at Maurice city Bar
We liked to hang out at the pub a lot
I was a long time member of the lunch bunch basketball group at reds, m/w/f from 11:30 to 1. Played for years with Bobby novosad, great guy IRL, dead eye set shooter

Anyone remember Roothogs on Jefferson street? It was a bar around 2003 or so.

I do like the "dot" the other poster was talking about, I think it's a much better marg:sangria ratio than the half and half

I’ll be at LaFonda tonight if anyone wants to have a margarita with a dot. Been there every Wednesday before Thanksgiving for probably the last 20 years

20 yr old me drove in from LSU to take a Lafayette area hottie to see Stevie B there. My Murphy’s/Fred’s- going bro’s would never let me live this down had they known.
But hottie is hottie, and remains undefeated.
