A Dustin Poitier status needs to go up there. King of Lafayette.

The dumbest part is that you can win the position even if you don’t live in the city. So, in effect you could control a city that you don’t even live in. At least he lives in the parish that he has control over.

That is why I held my nose and voted for him. I don’t want a non-City of Lafayette resident in the Mayor-President office. If we had a true consolidated government, different story.

I went to school with an African American named Alfred Mouton in the 90s. I had no idea he had a statue built for him. Good job my friend!

I don't like Josh Guillory but it has nothing to do with this statue. I've lived in Lafayette most of my life and the statue means nothing to me. I don't even really believe he'll get it taken down. His office will get some angry phone calls in the morning and he'll back off.

Guillory is a known goober. He pandered to all the fat boomer conservatives who listen to KPEL and Carol Ross everyday with his cheesy "I'm a conservative" lines. Dude would flinch and stumble on his words anytime someone asked a question about economics or city management. Should of voted for Simone if you wanted this city to turn around after the disaster of the Robideaux city hall.

KPEL's new CNN-trained management ran Carol off a couple of weeks ago. Moon Griffon can't be too far behind. They're probably praying for Rush to die from cancer soon.

Wish they’d shitcan Shannon Wilkerson. Dude cannot complete a sentence or conjugate a verb. How does one get a radio gig when you cannot speak fluently or enunciate correctly?

Lafayette was also an abolitionist.

He was French so I don’t think he ever owned slaves, just showed up and fought and then went back to France. VERY interesting life. He was big in the French Revolution but got swept aside as it got more and more radical and then was in an Austrian prison for a good chunk of it.
