Modest people can be miserable too.
Just say you’re thankful that your wife is a happy person despite living with your judgmental arse and move on with your life.

1.) I think $100

2.) I think 3-5, her thing is shoes which I think would be a 10 and cost a hell of a lot more than the purse.

3.) no idea but for me personally I’m a addicted to knives…. Pocket knives and fixed blades. I spend a lot on them but hey it brings me joy.

Funny thing is I have some knives that cost as much or more than guns and I still carry a Buck 110 most days.

My ex-wife used to buy expensive purses and hide them in a box in the garage when she came home from her job. She’d pull it out the next morning when she left for work. She confessed after the divorce when she got her meds dialed-in.

That’s all I got.

Purses are like shoes…

The cheap ones are not good, and the good ones are not cheap.

FTR I have 3 purses - a Kate spade purse I picked up for $3 at a thrift store, a clear purse for when those are necessary, and my everyday purse that is brown leather which cost $180 when I bought it.

Most expensive purse I ever bought yes, I’m a cheapskate

Depends on where you are in life.

My gf is a degreed finance professional (yes, LSU) but half my age, so we still Cabo and Europe and all that, but it is true that the trappings are really expensive.

Chanel bag plus Christian L. red soles and LV sunglasses can easily set you back 10k. But so can two Armani suits and I've done that for myself (think suits & ties for court).

Being older, retired, and no exes or kids makes this life *far* easier, but still, the modern world is very expensive.

I had this GF that had to have the matching wallet.. I refused to buy her any of that crap.. Purse could be 400 and the matching wallet could be 300...

I told her that if she bought a $45,000 purse it better have $44,500 cash in it.

Not so much with LV but Hermes quota bags (Birkin/Kelly/Constance) basically come with cash in the bag. They are worth a great deal more on the secondary market than you pay retail.

My wife worked her way up to quota bags about 12 years ago (it was easier then) and gets to buy 2 quota bags per year. She carries them for a season and sells them for ~50% more than she paid. She literally gets paid to carry them. Her bag obsession has been a financial positive over the years. While she would have come to the same conclusion independently she does the same thing with bags I did with watches for many years. Watches are the closest male corollary to bags.

The most I’ve spent on a purse was $175. However I’ve always wanted a Chanel purse but they are a bit pricey for me

It’s ridiculous the amount of money on Chanel, LV, YSL, Gucci, Versace, CL all that crap, Hell she can only wear it to a few places and just takes up space in closet! Waste of money but they all do it! It’s a competition when walking out the door.??

If you buy wisely keep the box, receipts and dust bags they can be resold - sometimes for more than you paid.
