Well yeah, but let's not pretend there's not a romanticism applied by some to the word and that period. 'I wish I was in the land of cotton, old times there are not forgotten...'

I think the name change is dumb, but I'm not going to pretend it's just a completely innocent word either.

Good lord, does any word not offend you? Do we have to rid of the direction “south”?
Will we be able to identify someone as “white”?
Can we say someone cares about an elderly person?

Or will you make everything out to be against your cause?

Oh please.

quote:

"Antebellum" means "before the war," but it wasn't widely associated with the U.S. Civil War (1861-1865) until after that conflict was over. The word comes from the Latin phrase "ante bellum" (literally, "before the war"), and its earliest known print appearance in English dates back to the 1840s.

Ghey

Every time something like this happens, I want to say "frick them. I'm not buying their shite anymore." But... for the most part, I haven't been buying liberal shite to begin with. I've also decided I'm done with pro sports, but I haven't purchased a ticket to an NFL event in 20 years.

So does that also mean the phrase before war is now racist? This is getting hard to follow.

FFS it's a manner of dress, of speech, of regional culture, etc.

Let's ask Hank Jr., and Charlie Daniels how they feel about this.

Oh my God.

That might be the weakest, dumbest thing I've ever read.

I'm so ready to be done with all of this pandering bullshite. Make it stop!

Any reference to the old south is racist.

If I acknowledge my ancestors from the south I am racist.

There are an endless line of words that show I am racist. The southern thing is just one.

The only appropriate name change would be to shorten it to La-a
