I can unequivocally say yes. I was friend zoned in college by a chick I had a thing for. Smoke show volleyball player. When I finished OCS and we had our dining out, I invited said chick as my date just for the hell of it. She had made it clear during school that she wasn't interested in me that way, so figured just a friend thing.
I didn't sleep that night. Or much whenever I came back home while in training.
