So what Tort reform did JBE implement in his two terms?

We knew JBE was in their pocket.

Damn. I'm still celebrating how much our insurance premiums went down from the last round of tort reform. Oh, wait....

Landry issued the invitations, and Protect Louisiana Values, one of his political organizations, paid for their stay at the hunting resort

All paid for by a conservative/Republican PAC, which Landry uses as his slush fund.

I doubt the people who have contributed money to this PAC realized it would be used to buy votes to protect trial lawyers.

Well “we” didn’t have to vote for Landry as the only option other than Democrats. There were several Republicans to choose from.

The idiots in this state were too afraid of the democrat winning the runoff which was non-sensical…so now we’re stuck with fake trump

Also traveling to Texas for the meetings were Sen. Kirk Talbot, who chairs the Senate Insurance Committee; Sen. Patrick McMath, who chairs the Senate Health and Welfare Committee; Rep. Jack McFarland, who chairs the House Appropriations Committee; Kyle Ruckert, the governor’s chief of staff; and Digger Earles, a big-name personal injury lawyer in Lafayette who is buddies with Landry from when they attended law school together.

No business lobbyists went on the trip.

Way too smart for his own good and to be Louisiana's governor. He was the brains behind the CAs. He is the smartest person I have ever met, but needs someone to dumb things down to make sense to Louisiana.
it doesn’t take a jeanyus to know a revenue neutral tax swap is bullshite.

Landry is the very definition of Good Ol Boy Louisiana bullshite. This state is a total joke compared pretty much to the entire rest of the United States

Um, tort reform is dead for the entirety of Jeff's governorship, dummy. This is an absolute certainty. What moronic idea popped into your head to think this was going to somehow happen? Landry literally told trial lawyers that they'd have NO problems with him for the duration of his term.

I agree. The court system moves very fast and the results of any changes should be instantaneous. The business community and insurance industry should be more trusting in the government of this state.

If you could figure out how much this costs each policyholder. Across the board in Louisiana -it's probably pretty high.

Then, add grocery store insurance, restaurants, businesses, etc etc. Louisianans are paying a ton extra for insurance across the board.

But it’s ok because?

Can someone tell me why Jeff chose to get into bed with these fricks? Why did he take their money? He was not at risk of losing the election if he didn't. In fact, he might have done better than he did.

As I said in another thread, real tort reform would reduce insurance rates. But nobody in this state has ever seen real tort reform, so they don't know what it looks like. Real tort reform basically will put the plaintiff's bar out of business. (And defense lawyers like me, I am afraid. But so what.)

TX does a decent job on the small stuff. But man the long balls hit in Texas are impressive.

He wanted to win outright in the Primary and not have a runoff.

Cut a deal with the trial lawyers so they don’t at least try to fund a “moderate” Democrat.

Cut a deal with Cleo Fields to keep the busses from running and money flowing on the street for Shawn Wilson on Election Day.
