With the city of BR losing all this money, I wonder if BRPD is going to have to become part of EBRSO completely now.

Do they need to also reverse all the areas that switched from being within St George to join BR?

Let's put a wall around it AND make all roads leading into St George a TOLL ROAD.

We are right on the edge of the boundary, but on the BR side. I'm happy for y'all though. BR needed a slap in the face.

City will be incorporated immediately and the city parish budget will changed to reflect areas within St George, meaning unincorporated areas and the general fund shrinks immediately.

I mean, don't you still have to figure out the city utility/FD/PD/sewage plans before this all happens? It's not like there is a switch to suddenly reflect all of this. Corporations are also going to need to figure out how to calculate their taxes (of course after Tax Day) and work numbers to calculate how to pay for 2025 taxes based on what St. George is intending to implement. I would think this takes another year or two before the city is ready to go.

So how will this effect students living in St George that currently go to EBR schools in EBR ? I know this will take long while to sort out but curious what if any plans have been discussed.

Somebody please ask Sharon Hyphen Broome if she put all of St. George's money in an escrow account., holding in wait for the decision.

Or, does it go into debt and St.George starts picking the buildings/property it is owed?

Awesome…

That’ll make it the 4th or 5th largest city in the state…

Well, St George it is. I look forward to low taxes, good schools, armed perimeters, and parades with bagpipes and delightful European cheeses and meats.

Hard to predict how it will all shape out over time, but they certainly will have a chance to make a better community. Let's hope they don't screw it up.

It won’t affect schools until a new school district is formed.

To their credit the organizers have been meeting regularly to fulfill their obligations and draw up plans to move forward.

Yep. Monthly transition meetings. The city of Baton Rouge has been absent from all of them.

FD is currently handled by St George fire.

PD is handled by EBR Sheriff

Utilities are private, not municipal.

Hence why a switchover is so simple.

Is there a way to petition to get a single house moved into St. George? Asking for a friend.
