Additionally to your point, I don’t want to tax everything. In fact, I want to tax shite more that is bad for you and tax things less that are good for you
I love some things that are bad for you and will still pay to get them.

The state is broke. We gave all our money away. Gotta do something.
This is insanity. Why do you Gov lovin liberals keep saying this?
The state has plenty of tax revenue, they just happen to have a much bigger spending problem. How about we address that rather than give them more?

The point I'm really getting at is that taxing all of this random stuff won't make a dent in the budget because legislators will be spending the money before it comes in. It does nothing but aggravate people.
Taxing random shite at random rates won't prevent or solve any problems

This.
Not to mention the revenue generated by these taxes usually ends up being spent on things other than it's intended use. Taxes are usually just one giant slush fund that go to the most well connected bidder. I wouldn't mind taxes if they were spent with some kind of regard for the general public but they are almost always spent in a self-serving manner that benefits a politician and/or their friends (both R's and D's).

Raising revenue and health. Win win

That's a short-sided, simplistic and, quite frankly, ignorant view.

If you've ever read his other posts, he's a borderline socialist who lives in the NY area.

Oh, I know. I just like to make sure his drive-by comments don't go unchecked.

Please summarize.

They should just get rid of the tax protection afforded to churches and tax them like the businesses they are.
I know you are not this stupid and are just playing around, but for the idiots who might buy into this, itemized deductions would eliminate most if not all taxes.
But I suppose taxing all non-profits as businesses would at least allow the government to step in to replace the programs that would be lost. I'm all for more government.
