I love black bear. Always in great shape when I play. I usually play midweek in April and it's cheap and hardly anyone out there. I guess the best comparison would be grand bear

I played there once during the week. There were four cars there at 10:00 AM. I would go back except for the 3 plus hour drive. Great course just a bad location.

How anyone can put atchafalaya on that list is beyond me.

No doubt

Squire Creek, UClub, CCL, LaTour, Money Hill, English Turn in no certain order, I wanna play The National in LC, and Oakburne in Laffy, I hear both are real good.

Black bear is under rated.

Links and oak wing in Alex are both above avg courses.
Tamaka trails in Marksville has stepped it up last couple time I was there... Started out great, went downhill and seems better now.
There's one in kinder I've never played but always hear great things about, kistachi pines I believe.
The one over on Toledo bend has so much potential... It just sucks though.. At least the two times I played it.

When I lived in BR I really enjoyed carter plantation... That's been several years ago though.

The bar in Louisiana has been set with squire creek.
No others even come close.

Tough to pick your favorite when each course has positives and negatives.

Over all winner- English Turn when it is in good shape

Best layout- Bluffs

Best shape- BRCC

Hardest- UClub from the tips

Beat deal- Carter Plantation

Coolest experience - Tpc a few days after the Zurich with the grand stands still in place, otherwise, it isn't worth the time and money to drive to Nola

Throwback that I wish was open- Shenandoah CC

I agree its tough to pick just one: imo Alexandria area has some decent area courses - Marksville, the links and oak wing. I would enjoy playing a few in north LA. I recently played southern trace in Shreveport and enjoyed it.

Contraband Bayou (laberge LC) is a Fazio layout. It is pretty good when the greens are in good shape.

The new course at Golden Nugget is going to be a Challange when the north wind is blowing off the lake.

I have yet to play it, but have heard nothing but praise from people that have.

I need to get out there.

I need to hit Gray Plantation as well.

if any of you get a chance to play the national in LC, you need to. even a quick 4 hour stop on the way to houston will do the trick.

its a great course, hard but fun.
