That camera is repeatedly saying to you "When you call my name, you speak to me. You understand? It's me. So LaTraffiCamera is me. What do you have to say to me?"

It sounds like you failed to appear for something. Paying off camera tickets has zero bearing on the status of your license.

It’s a huge, bullshite money grab.

Hmm ok, that's all I could think of. I haven't needed to appear for anything but I'm stumped now.... I'm calling OMV now to find out my fate. (bend and spread seems likely)

Only think they can do with unpaid camera ticket fines is boot your vehicle if they see the plate and it matches unpaid fines.

Sold a car and didn't turn in the plate?

Changed insurance and the company you left sent a letter to DMV saying insurance lapsed?

Just hung up with OMV. LA Dept of Revenue - for tax discrepancy from 2018 that was paid/cleared in 2018 (for 2017 tax year). It shows I'm "in compliance" but I still owe a $60 reinstatement fee. I guess my license has been suspended for quite some time .

You probably let uour insurance lapse and they suspend for that.

LA Dept of Revenue
The LA Dept of Revenue has some of the greatest draconian ability of any state to reach in your pocket if you are out of compliance in a myriad of life situations.

You probably forgot to turn in the license plate on an old vehicle or reregister your current one. My brother did this two years ago. He had no clue they suspended his license.

Sounds like an insurance issue. Some car in your name had insurance lapse.

This is my shocked face.

This has been cleared up for 3 years yet you have to pay a bribe because they couldn’t be assed to update anything.

Oof, I learned that lesson the wrong way when I moved back to Louisiana. Had to pay about 800$ in fines to get legal from 8 years prior…. Plus the car tax to register in LA which was another 700$. They said I had lapse in insurance which I proved I didn’t but nobody could remove the fine unless I sued them. Their argument was that they sent me notices to the house I moved 1000 miles away from and since they never heard back then they couldn’t remove it even if they wanted to. What a racket

So why do you have to pay a reinstatement fee if the tax obligation was cleared up years ago and you have proof as well?

What a fricking joke, these assholes will nickel and dime anyone.
