Whoever’s crawfish boil you’ve been too fricking sucks at doing crawfish. It’s a very localized skill I’ve learned so not surprised to hear an Aggy say this. I went to a crawfish cookoff as close as central MS even and more than half those frickers use pineapple in their boils. Where the hell did they pick that up??? Every single one of those vendors crawfish tasted awful

I'm in TN and have done a crawfish boil 3 times this season. We buy them from Arkansas. It's a novelty here. I get asked to come to peoples parties and boil for them and I don't have to boil that much. One sack goes a long way as most Tennesseans don't eat much in one sitting.

If I'm going to eat fat people food there is a lot of other options I'd choose before a fricking crawfish. idgaf if they go extinct.

Crawfish are LA's most overrated food. You treat these mudbugs like the Holy Grail. Any dish that doesn't feature them solely boiled (which is just a social party and reason to drink) can be replaced with shrimp, or almost anything. When you realize that a Crawfish boil is less about the actual food, and more about the beer and comradery, you might get it. But, I doubt it.

Of course the harvest is down. When you charge crazy price demand goes down. You harvest less.

Boy you’ve got it all figured out. LOL

That is really one of the dumbest things I've read here in a while.

Outside of higher pricing initially, this season wasn't unlike past seasons in terms of availability. This sounds like a bunch of bologna.

Plus it's a foxweather article? Tha fack is that?

My goal in life is to get the government to assume all of my risk, while I get to keep all the profits. Farming and banking look to be the strongest contenders!

Only "shortage" of crawfish I've seen is Good Friday/Easter weekend and Mother's Day. Funny how that happens, price goes up, and then 2 days later the catch is awesome and price drops.

Other than that, I have had no issues getting crawfish.

Yeah it's strange how that supply and demand thing works.

I live in the damn mountains and could fill a sack with crawfish out of a creek and they are trying to convince me the swamp ran out. The got dang swamp is out of crawfish. I call shenanigans!

This is how they justify keeping the prices high. Before you know it, $5/lbs live will be the expectation, in 10 yrs, that’ll be considered the cheap good ole days.

Only way to stop the price gauging is to refuse to pay the prices. If you willingly pay the price gauging fricks because they “have to stay in business and it’s not their fault”, you’re part of the problem
