Made it 2 weeks....

WLKY

A Kentucky State Police trooper who was recently recognized as the 2025 Post 3 Trooper of the Year is now facing a DUI charge.

Trooper Tyler Walters was charged with driving under the influence and having an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle on Friday in Hardin County.

Walters has been with Kentucky State Police for two years.

Just over two weeks ago, he was named the 2025 Trooper of the Year for Post 3, which is located in Bowling Green. However, he is now assigned to KSP Post 4 in Elizabethtown.

Walters was initially held at the Hardin County Detention Center but has since been released on pre-arraignment release.

He's scheduled to be arraigned August 31.

WLKY has reached out to KSP for comment about the investigation but has not yet heard back.

Dude looks like he'd been on a solid bender.

He probably keeps his job if he hasn't pissed off enough folks. Worst case, he just ends up working for some home-city PD.

What kind of enlightening feedback do they expect?

"Trooper Walters got drunk and got caught with a road beer."

Seems legit, just surprised somebody over there bothered to make the charge.

Worked at a company once where a lady we had under investigation for fraud/embezzlement win employee of the year with $1,500 check. She was presented a plaque and took pics with the GM at that location in late December at LDL.

She was arrested the following Monday on company property.

Not kidding.

Did not say what he was drinking.

EKY is noted for is local "spring water", if he was drinking that, no way he is a felon.

According to Hardin District Court records, Walters is charged with:

Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol (0.08 or above), first offense (recorded blood alcohol level of 0.083).

Interesting that he blew, most cops would refuse this and all field sobriety tests.

When I used to run a bar I went to a Braves game one time with a retired county deputy. When I got to his house to leave for the game he had a cooler full of beer in the backseat of his truck. We slammed beers the whole way to Atlanta while he did 100 and got us there in record time.

He's a little feller.

I remember when KSP troopers were well over 6 feet tall.
