I remember listening to wwl at night when I lived in San Antonio. I’d listen to high school football games. Signal was great at night!

AM, FM, and .com
---only one that matters is AM. 50,000 watts of clear channel

I used to be able to pick the LSU night games om WWL when I lived in Ohio. It was awesome because this was before streaming.

When I was a little kid I used to think my dad was mad when he'd go sit in the car or drive around the block on Saturdays and Sundays.
One day I realized he was trying to get WWL on the radio for LSU and Saints updates.

Used to be cool as a kid to have those old AM transistors and lie in bed trying to see the most distant station you could find
Used to listen to some Chicago White Sox games

So, they moved it to an in-between location as well? That's not quite as sensational than if they reached SA from downtown Austin. :)

The farthest station I picked up from BR was WTAM-AM out of Cleveland.
Speaking of WWL, when I was stationed in Fr Campbell, KY, I listened to many LSU baseball and basketball games on the Big 870. Just an awesome signal.

I’m suprised San Antonio didn’t have something that played alt rock.

Maybe there's not enough spectrum considering there are like 10 Mexican stations. Admittedly I know jack about FM airwave broadcasting, but you would think the 7th largest city in the country would have the demographics to support an alt rock station.

they cant hear KLBJ in SA?

KISS 99.5 in San Antonio is somewhat of a rarity in commercial rock radio formats: a straight-ahead, pure rock station that has not changed formats in decades.
San Antonio also has college radio KSYM 90.1, with their long-time show "Third Coast Music Network" supporting South Texas rock music. Plus the folks up in New Braunfels are still holding true to Americana with KNBT 92.1.
Back on the commercial side, "Alternative", "Rock" and even the harder side of "Adult Album Alternative" (AAA) have blurry lines of definition between the formats.
Spin the dial, pick a format.

KLBJ is more classic rock than alternative.
Also, 93.7 KLBJ gets blocked by a translator in San Antonio. I believe it’s the 98.9 KLMO translator.
