This is the same trash event that’s draws every group of trash in la and where every form of sin and degradation is accepted but oh no… confederate flags are off limits!!!
This has been my takeaway. The point of Mardi Gras is to be trashy and controversial. But we have a zero tolerance policy on controversial beads. What a lame pussy city that pretends to be edgy.

Back in the day, stuff like this was thrown all the time. That this is even a concern says a lot about where we are.
race relations were a lot better back then...nobody associated everything with racism. Since the 80's & 90's people were told they should be offended by statues and flags...has made race relations much worse.

Hilarious coming from one of the biggest edge lords on this board.
The krewe kicked the rider out, not the city. Rider was extremely dumb to have “edgy” beads and throw them to random people. If you’re going to throw dumb things, throw them to people you know.

The crewe has become pussified by the northeast and west coast pussies that have taken over New Orleans. It’s a direct result of the pussification of the city. Mardi Gras has become pussified with all the rules in place now.

Mardi Gras is FAT Tuesday. It’s a time to indulge and do stuff like this. People need to stop clutching their pearls over stupid stuff like this. It’s part of Mardi Gras, so if you don’t like it, then Mardi Gras may not be for you.

I guess De’tat and the decadence parade offends no one.

Do better people
I agree that the people who kicked these members out should do much better.

Last year Thoth riders ignored the rules and blew out a transformer with a confetti cannon that stalled the parades and knocked the power out to fat Harry’s.

bullshite. The 80’s and 90’s, were some of the most colorblind decades in our history. We thought we were finally entering a new colorblind America when Obama was elected. However, he decided to use race to advance his political goals and the democrat party and their media allies have used identity politics ever since then.

A good buddy of mine rode in Thoth maybe 10 years ago. He was with his roommate, a huge dbag, who threw dildos off the float. He didn’t even get in trouble for it.

Aren't parades supposed to be offensive?

I have no idea, and I regret adding that last line to my post.

The offended party at Mardi Gras is actually the one from the Cochran firm who bit off another individual's nose.
ETA:
Excuse me, AND swallowed it
Now they are offended by mardi gras beads

Yeah, the parade was in March so you missed that completely!

shite I’d love to catch one of those. They’d be keepers for sure instead of trash bag beads going to the recycling bin.

This isn't adding up.
ok
If he threw them in the trash, then why is there pictures of the beads in the article?
and then
Sounds like bullshite and another race baiting lawyer doing what they do.

Mark Lambert of Memphis, Tennessee, said he and his friends were watching Sunday's parade at the corner of St. Joseph Street and St. Charles Avenue when a rider threw him the beads.

In a phone interview with Action News 5 Thursday, Lambert said he only acted in self-defense after Herbers physically assaulted him for no reason.
And while he admitted to biting off part of Herbers' nose, Lambert says he didn't swallow it, but spit it out.
