But it's a helicopter so you would think they could pretty quickly stop their forward momentum.

It takes a lot longer than you'd think slow down from 150 kts.

Going to post again.

I feel sorry for all on board and pray for their families, BUT, really a sticky? We loose way more people servicing our oil rigs every year in the Gulf Of Mexico without any stick's. These are the people that put their lives on the line.

Like I said prays to them, but they NEVER touched my life.

Also from that USA Today Article:
“ Since Jan. 1, the helicopter made 42 trips, including 16 that landed at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, according to FlightAware.”

Just put that out there for anyone that thinks all private planes have undertrained and inexperienced pilots. That helicopter was used a ton.

I know of no oilfield workers who have achieved the level of global recognition that Kobe Bryant had.

have to agree, Kobe was just a basketball player, period. he apparently wasn't a very moral or scrupulous individual either, much more of a taker than a giver

But they aren’t, they are just so morally bankrupt that they put reporting the news first above all else.

Again, some reputable news outlets know when to rush to report a story and when to exercise discretion.

But that’s TMZ’s entire business model. It’s the same reason there are a ton of posts when this just came out “waiting to hear from someone legit”.

I understand hating TMZ, but if tmz didn’t do it someone else would. So I don’t really understand getting frustrated at the idea.

Furthermore, as I alluded to what’s the proper amount of time to wait? If I’m on a hunting trip with poor phone service it could be days before someone reaches me. I just don’t agree with the idea of waiting to report something these days. It is what it is and will forever be this way unless the internet goes away.

Because this is bigger news than blue collar Joe dying in a plane crash. But you knew that.

Haven't checked this thread in a few hours and not reading back.

The Staples Center is asking people gathering to mourn the loss of Kobe to disperse due to the Grammys.

The betters don't want to blend with the peasants

Hollywood is a fricking joke

I will FOREVER yell “Kobe!” whenever I’m throwing/shooting anything into anything anywhere.

One of the biggest unscheduled death’s of a celebrity/sports icon in my lifetime thus far...

...and I barely even consider myself a basketball fan

He gave a lot more than you think

And as a player he brought happiness to millions of people who love the game. I have a feeling if this was a Joe Burrow you would be saying he was just a football player.

And his wife stayed with him after the scandal and they had more kids. Nobodies perfect.

Actually no. They have an event there and they couldn’t handle everyone. It was the LAPD and LA sheriff’s office that asked people not to make their way down there. What does this have to do with Hollywood. It’s the Grammys not the oscars. Everything is political with you people.

That doesn’t make TMZ or any other news outlet that rushed to report this “better at their jobs” as you suggested. That just makes them morally bankrupt news outlets.

Do you think this hypothetical is the exception or the rule? I hunt quite a bit, and rarely am I anywhere that it would take days for someone to get in touch with me if they really needed to.

Somehow, some news outlets figure out the appropriate time to report things. Some choose to ignore basic human decency and report on it first, consequences be damned.
