Main reason I'm asking is that I'm trying to figure out my son. He's 4 and a half. 5 in November. He's writing his name left handed, yet, throwing things in his right. Anyone ever heard of this or seent it?

Yep. Your son is gay bud. The important thing to remember is that it's 2017 and the world has never been more welcoming to people with his condition

I was ambidextrous going into kindergarten. Of course I don't really remember, I just heard my mom tell the story to people several times over time, but my teacher asked her if she wanted me to have a dominant hand or just let me go as is. At the time my mom said just let him go as is.. But during my kindergarten year I broke my left arm so I started having to use my right hand to write, etc and from there I became right handed.

But my right hand is dominant, when I throw something, I do something with my left. If I cut a steak for example, I do it with my left hand..

I cut food with my right hand and use my left hand for the fork or spoon.

Ambidextrous usually means the person can perform a task equally well with either hand.

Sounds like your kid may be mixed-handed or have ambiguous hand dominance. That is when you use one hand for some tasks and the other for others.

That's me. Bat left, throw right. Write left, use fork with right. Shoot right, golf left. Also kick left.

I do most things right handed.

Bat left but golf right.

Also shoot guns and bow left handed.

No idea why.

I'm left-handed, can do anything right-handed, but better left-handed. Play golf right-handed. Can switch hit in baseball. Shoot guns right-handed, bows left-handed. Write left-handed.

I write left
Use scissors right
Throw right (baseball)
Throw left (frisbee)
Bat right
Shoot right
Dribble left
Eat left

Oddly, I'm completely uncoordinated trying to do any of those with the opposite hand. I'm crosswired. When I was a kid, my parents bought me gloves for both hands. I switched pretty routinely. Now, i would look like my five year old daughter trying to throw a ball with my left. Your kid will figure it out and encourage his ambidextrous abilities as much ch as possible.

Its an indication you are highly intelligent, which makes sense.. because, like I said I was once ambidextrous and even today I still use my left hand..

I throw left, write left, kick right, bat right, bowl with either, play pool left, left eye dominant but I shoot a shotgun right, shoot a pistol left.

I'm all kinds of mixed up and have to try either hand when I try something new. Most things I can do with either hand.

Let him do what's comfortable. If you try to force him he will learn it but his natural abilities will not be as good as what is more comfortable.

My grandfather was. He was a natural lefty but the nuns beat the right handed writing into him. He had great handwriting and you couldn't tell which hand he had written with.

I am.

Certain things are easier than others. Can't write or throw a baseball for shite lefty but no issues throwing a football, batting or playing golf.

My sons both kick equally well with both feet. My oldest writes with his left hand but bats, golfs and eats with his right. My youngest is right handed for the most part but can use his left hand quite well too. Mother Nature is a mad scientist.
