No Pain, No Gain was never more appropriate.

I'm not watching that. My doctor showed me all the pictures, that was enough.
My meniscus looked like shredded crab meat.
That is exactly what the video looks like.

Had ACL recon and LCL repair in September 16th. No pain, off crutches 4 days after surgery. Rehab sucks because you feel like you could do more, but you shouldn't. Stool softeners are a must if u take the pain meds. I'm about 6 weeks post op and feel great.
That sounds positive. Hopefully I have a similar experience.

Sucks for the afternoon appointment. No food all day sucks. Next time you screw your leg up ensure morning appointment.

I know. I could spit dust right now.
I wanted morning, but had two options. This afternoon or morning on November 4th.
Screw it. I want this done and over with.

Curious. How did you injure yourself?

Fell off a rollback and landed on my right leg.
Knee bent sideways like a pretzel. I knew in an absolute flash...before I even hit the ground, that I had seriously injured my knee.

Ive had it done to both my knees. The cadaver was easily the best of the 4 knee surgeries that I have had. That knee is 1000% stronger than my other one that used patella tendon.

So, looks like I am getting a cadaver graft for the ACL.

Had it done years ago and didn't use a cadaver ligament but they cut me down the front of the knee, took some bone fragment from the lower leg bone and knee area and the connective tissue and made a new one. That way, no chance for rejection.
Everything else was done with minimal invasion.
As far as rehab after surgery, they will get you in pretty soon after release and just trust the folks doing the manipulations and exercises they include.
You'll likely have to wear a knee brace for a while to stabilize it and not over-extend it by doing too much and that can be a PITA, but much needed.
Basically just listen to the PT folks, do what they recommend and don't rush things or you could suffer a setback.
Good luck.
Oh, and I won't kid you, the pain you will feel in the first day or so after surgery is real, but yours may not be as bad using a cadaver ligament and much less invasive.

Expect at least 1 year for a full recovery, even with rehab. They will most likely start you with rehab ASAP and you had best complete it if you want to regain the full range of motion. You will hate and curse your physical therapist. It even takes a full year to recover from a total knee replacement, so again don't rush anything. Take your pain relievers before heading to therapy, you will want to dull the pain.

'Tis done.
They told me the surgery would be more painful than the original injury. They were not lying.
Pain was intense when I woke up. They gave me a shot and two pain pills that killed the pain completely within 10 minutes.
Dreading when the shot wears off. Loading up on pain pills now.
Physical therapy starts on Monday.

Get someone to bring you a large bottle of store brand Miralax. Take a dose daily. Dissolve in your morning cup of coffee. It's a laxative that works by drawing water into the stool making it easier to pass. It doesn't work by cramping, bloating, or creating gas. The pain pills, opiates, work great for pain but they slow down the intestinal tract causing constipation. You will be on the pain pills for some time, so get a large bottle ASAP. For the first few days take the meds as directed. After a few days I would advise you to buy a pill cutter. Cut your pain pills into 1/4's or 1/2's. Take a fourth or half, and when the pain returns take another. That way it's a lesser dose, which can help with possible addiction issues if you are on them for some time.

Had this exact surgery with cadaver. Hit it hard ASAP after surgery to get flex back and the joint moving. Lay off opioids if you can. Take ibuprofen and ice the hell out of it. 3 months of rehab and I was well on my way. Try to watch comes out of your mouth when anesthesia starts hitting before you go out. My wife has video.

Might as well get a tightrope while your there. Good luck!

Hit it to hard and may suffer another tear. It happens. You are correct to get flexibility and mobility back as fast as you can. One doesn't want a frozen knee. Then its back to OR, go under anesthesia, and have the doctor move it everyway possible to break up the scar tissue. That's real PAIN, when you wake up.
