I had mine replaced 4 years ago after a mortar incident. Hurt a lot the first few days.

Thanks, she is tough. She still has some pain but it gets better each day and the meds are helping.

Negroplasty? Make sure she doesn't play basketball after. The balls they use in the knees will blow out. Also, do you know who's balls they are implanting in there? Just curious...

I am three months out from a total knee replacement.I had home health rehab for three weeks, then outpatient for six weeks. Do what they tell you and you will do fine. My surgeon told my husband right after my surgery that I'd hurt like hell for two months, then it'd be great. He was spot-on.

I have never t had a knee replacement myself, but I had a grandmother and a couple of coworkers have them. Every single one of them says they waited too long and should have had it done a lot sooner.
As for the rehab, all said it sucked, but none claimed that it was as bad as the pain that they were experiencing before surgery. My grandmother didn't put a lot of effort into her rehab, and never really walked normally after that....but the constant pain was gone. The coworkers are now completely normal.

Research before doing it. Not all MDs are the same.
Next are you just doing one or bilateral? If you can do both at once do it.

Yeah if you find a guy that will do both at the same time run! DO NOT DO BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. If you get an infection guess what happens they pull the hardware out! Kneeless

If you aren't committed to the rehab you aren't going to get the results you need

That happened to my uncle and they didn't have to take them out but he did spend a few weeks in the hospital on IV antibiotics and has to take oral antibiotics for the rest of his life. He also has to wear those thick arse compression socks.

Get on top of anything that smacks of infection.
I know someone who had to have an implant removed, sit around in a hospital bed for weeks with no joint to get the infection under control, then have a new implant put in.
And I just read a thread on another board by a guy who is having his right leg amputated after a couple years of battling post-implant infections.

donr skimp on rehab. it will hurt but you will be better off hurting a lot and get movement.
