Well you'd definitely be wrong. From the large face scales to the body markings, it's absolutely a king cobra.

Could you imagine being bitten by a gaboon viper? Look at the size of these fangs:

“In humans, a bite from a Gaboon viper causes rapid and conspicuous swelling, intense pain, severe shock and local blistering. Other symptoms may include uncoordinated movements, defecation, urination, swelling of the tongue and eyelids, convulsions and unconsciousness. Blistering, bruising and necrosis may be extensive. There may be sudden hypotension, heart damage and dyspnoea. The blood may become incoagulable with internal bleeding that may lead to haematuria and haematemesis. Local tissue damage may require surgical excision and possibly amputation to any affected limb. Healing may be slow and fatalities during the recovery period are not uncommon.”

Gonna have to go with a hard pass on that

Pretty sure neither of those snakes are a cobra. Looking at the heads, they both look like constrictors.

It's an old viral photo of a king cobra and a retic. Don't make me get all snake nerdy on you.

Kill it with fire. Even if they're dead. Burn the remains too. Matter of fact wherever this matchup took placr, burn the whole area down wkth fire.

Sounds like the "side effects" reading from a wonder drug commercial.

Ask your doctor if Gaboon viper venom is right for you......

I really don't understand why people seem to get pleasure from being irrationally afraid of snakes (and spiders). It's a strange phenomenon. There are much more dangerous things in life that people barely give a second thought. I'm not saying people shouldn't have a healthy respect for what a venomous snake can do, or even that they shouldn't fear them. But, you don't see a photo a bull moose on the internet followed by a thousand replies of "burn the world down!" It's just weird.

I honestly think it's ingrained in our DNA somehow through natural selection.

All this time I've been telling people my ex-wife was an immoral, self-absorbed, narcissistic, bitch of a whore. Turns out I was also married to a Gaboon viper.
